( things had been rather rough for heather the last couple of days [really the entirety of her life], with big emotions and fears being brought up to her by vincent again. it was hard to face such things alone and while she had made a considerable effort to be friendly with others here, she just felt like something else could be done to chase away the sadness that seemed to loom over her.

so today, for a change, she appears on the network in the most festive clothing she could find with an energy only the sun could match. )

Hey guys and gals, I'm Heather Mason if we haven't met yet. This place has been kinda down lately, hasn't it? So I have a proposition for anyone looking to have a good time.

( she paused for a moment to bring forth a noise maker, blowing on it before continuing on. )

I'm going to be throwing a fun little party at my apartment next Friday, and if you rock out too hard, you're welcomed to sleepover. Bring whatever you want to make this a blast, but I've got the music covered!

( with a flip of her hand against her short blonde locks, she gave a wink at the camera. )

Uhm, not really, no. I mean, I sometimes sat with Father's students for a bit when they had a party at the dojo -- but I don't think that's the same thing. So I'd really appreciate the run down!

( oh but mentioning fathers did seem to bring down heather's voice a bit. unbeknownst to rin, that was part of the reason she was doing this-

to forget about the pain involving her own father. )

That...that sounds like fun. My party will be just as fun, if not more. Basically people show up, we put on some fun music, play some games like poker or cards, eat food and just have a good time.

[ Until they got murdered, y'know, no biggie. Rin does notice the change in Heather's mood, but decides to let it slide. They don't know each other well yet, after all. ]

That sounds like fun! Uhm, you'll have to teach me the games, though.

( that does peak her curiosity a bit, but she isn't going to ask about it now. instead, if rin allowed it, she may pry a little more at the party. )

I can teach you any game you want, if I know it. I was thinking of setting up a chess board I found and there are a few card games...

I just wish I could get like something more engaging for people. A lot of people like singing competitively to popular songs...maybe a karaoke machine..

( she says that last part a little more casually, realizing that rin probably didn't even know what that was [or maybe she did]. )

[ Yeah, none of that rings a bell for Rin. Except chess, they do have a variety of that. ]

I don't know what a karaoke machine is, but it sounds fun! [ A beat. ] I, uhm, come from a world that is not very technologically advanced. I've seen some stuff since I came here, like the television, and the bots and the earpieces, of course... but a lot still eludes me.

I kinda figured as much...

( through the audio, a soft laugh could be heard. while she had been feeling a bit down due to rin bringing up her father, heather had found herself distracted with something new-

she had made it her personal mission to teach rin some fun games. )

Listen, why don't you show up a bit earlier so I can teach you some fun games? One on one?

[ Wow. Rin feels so flattered by this offer -- but of course she doesn't want to trouble Heather. ]

A-ah, please! That's not necessary!

( she had been feeling a bit lonely as of late, so really rin would be doing her a favor. )

Nonsense, I don't mind. It will help get me into the right mood for the party too.

[ ... alright, fine. ]

( is this her way of casually asking rin for her name? yes, because if heather recalls correctly, this is technically their first time meeting. )

( she paused for a moment, taking in a deep breath before going on. )

I'm starting to think my apartment might be a bit too small for everyone.

[ Rin thinks about this. ]

What about the Clubhouse? That's set up for lots of people.

Hey, that's not a bad idea. I can keep a better eye on people to, to make sure everyone is behaving.

( she isn't trying to be a stickler for the rules or anything like that, but she just doesn't want anyone getting hurt.

people can absolutely get drunk and go wild, without endangering themselves or others. )

Hey, it's no problem! I first learned of it from this girl named... I think it was "Kate". Haven't seen her in a while, though, I think she might no longer be around.

[ Awww. :( She was nice. Even though Rin never got to know her well. ]

( well that was a rather sad thing to hear, and while heather did feel a great empathy for rin in that regard-

she wasn't one to dwell on negativity for very long. she wanted to see the upside of things, find hope in the darkness of this world and their own. )

Well that just means we'll have to get to know each other better while we still have a chance.

( her voice is more upbeat now, coming up from that touching moment. )
