I have recently discovered that a person I care about is deceased at home. I do not know the circumstances, as I had just spoken to them before I was taken to this place.

Telling me that you are not alone is not equivalent to me telling you something about myself. You must be bad at negotiations if you cannot measure value.

On the contrary. The difference is that I know the value of what others see as seemingly worthless.

Knowing that someone is not alone offers the possibility of investigating, following, or perhaps even stalking. Once one has a small, seemingly miniscule piece of information, it's rather easy to take that and cultivate it to one's advantage.
