CHIRPER

⏵ CHIRPER ⏴
Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:
  • Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
  • When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya!
  • Other characters can be prompted to fill out their friends' profiles for them. This includes the Q&A section!
  • Alternatively, they choose not to fill out the form, and it remains unfilled! These unfilled profiles will not be posted live.
  • Characters either like or dislike others CHIRPER profiles. These responses are private between the characters involved.

For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER toplevels are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

Please feel free to switch out any of the Q&A questions with those listed here! We have an example of a filled out form here.

I take it that this is a seminal work of literature on your world?

One of those profound in the ordinary sort of texts?

[It's one part of being a Jedi she took to like a duck to water - finding the Force, the light of it, in the smallest things.]

Yes on both counts.

Some people find it dry and long-winded. I just find those people shallow and uninteresting.

Those people haven't ever had to read technical manuals and operations procedures manuals. I'm not sure what the polar opposite of the concept of art is, but that's what they were written with.

I should try it. Or novels, generally. Your Earth seems to have a talent for them. (I'm assuming you're from there?)

Yes I am. Not that that appears to be much of an anomaly

Might I presume you come from some far flung corner of the galaxy? Considering your interest in this topic?

Oh, your world and its people are a whole bucket full of anomalies, at least by what I'm used to in the wider galaxy.

Your sheer amount of nations and cultures for one - I've run into worlds with more than one culture or government before, but surely not in that number and variety.

Which makes me all the more willing to try out your world's books - if you don't mind me taking the recommendation.

Of course not. I would be delighted.

But first I really should know more about you. So I can curate a reading list for your preferences. If that's all right, of course.

Well, ask away - I'm a pretty open book. You kinda have to be, in my profession.

Ah. Well, there's my first question. What is it that you do?

[personal profile] once_reborn 2025-06-23 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, back home I'm what's called a Jedi Knight. My job is to use the powers I've been granted to defend against some truly profound evils and do what I can to protect people.

Which I know sounds really over the top, but some of the baddies my Order have faced can drain life from planets, so I just want to make clear I'm being very literal.

[Powers. Profound evils. Planets. He hates how this person makes life sound cinematic.

Okay. That's enough for today.]

Of course. I understand the serious nature of your work necessitates being clear for those who might be embroiled in conflict through no fault of their own.

Regardless, if your position is that of a knight, who appoints you?

And you'd be AMAZED how much I say that's literal and people assume I'm being metaphorical.

And in the old days, before a period we call the Dark Times, there was a whole structure with trials and knighthood given to you by a council.

These days it's more sort of attained through service. But there's only a few hundred of us in the galaxy, so lot more 'hands on' training than the old days.

[Dark times? Fascinating. He denotes that informaton for later.]

I can imagine the transistion to direct and practical action was a difficult period. Certainly, I can believe it was a tough adjustment period. But I suppose that's less of a problem in your day and age?

It was sort of a necessity - we went from ten thousand Jedi to a handful of hunted survivors overnight.

These days there's at best a couple hundred of us if you include trainees - so finding practical missions means we're more spoiled for choice. Everybody needs help, and we are very few to do it.
