CHIRPER

⏵ CHIRPER ⏴
Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:
  • Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
  • When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya!
  • Other characters can be prompted to fill out their friends' profiles for them. This includes the Q&A section!
  • Alternatively, they choose not to fill out the form, and it remains unfilled! These unfilled profiles will not be posted live.
  • Characters either like or dislike others CHIRPER profiles. These responses are private between the characters involved.

For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER toplevels are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

Please feel free to switch out any of the Q&A questions with those listed here! We have an example of a filled out form here.

Bold assumptions to make about a project you haven't seen yet, and you act like I'd be trapping him into getting involved. That's what the talk was going to be about. Peter's free to disengage entirely, if he was uninterested or didn't trust his personal safety.

I'm not accusing you of trapping anyone. I'm accusing you of being charismatic and passionate about your research, and reminding you that you have a heightened responsibility not to let someone so young get caught up in your enthusiasm when it's this dangerous.

Let's not pretend that either of us at age 18 would have exercised sound judgment if an accomplished mentor offered us a place working on their cutting edge advancement.

When's the cut off for someone actually being old enough to make their own decisions, in your eyes? Twenty, thirty? Never?

I wouldn't have him around for any trials. Just for planning of execution.

[ Funnily enough he'd just had a similar conversation with Accelerator, and they'd both agreed it wasn't a matter of years. He doesn't know Peter much at all, but he can already tell he's not nearly as cynical as Accelerator about scientific advancements. ]

And if he isn't satisfied with that, or learns enough to run his own experiments himself, without telling you?

I don't object to him assisting you, but please for the love of God do not pass on your cavalier attitude about personal safety.

That's why you'll be there.

Try it again with less smarm and I might believe it.

I mean it. I'm never going to convince you I'm taking this seriously enough, so if you want to control what Peter takes away from this, then you'll be here.

Why do you think I can't be convinced? I believe you've taken my point.

I wouldn't continue to discuss it with you if I thought it was impossible for us to sway one another.

Maybe because you're running interference, asking my partner what he thinks about me behind my back, and practically inviting yourself into my lab? Seems to me like you've already made up your mind in how you think I handle things.

Believe me, I did not for a second assume our conversation would be behind your back. My main motivation was in determining his wishes for myself, as his safety seems to be your primary goal.

[ Respect for individuals, remember? He wasn't going to launch himself into saving someone he had never even spoken to. Well -- he does that routinely, actually, but not by using fantastically dangerous experimental technology on them. ]

I now understand the urgency and severity of your situation. I was entirely sincere in saying if you are able to afford a greater measure of trust, I will code your nanobots for you as quickly as I am able. I truly wish to help.

And yes, I am afraid of what desperation can lead someone to.

[Jayce doesn't respond as quickly this time, giving himself time to cool off. If Harold understands... at least somewhat...

He has to attempt to trust Harold, at least a little bit. He needs Harold's skills more than he needs his own pride.
]

I'll try.
