Hey there! If it helps, it's very, very, VERY rare for a squirrel to catch rabies, let alone survive long enough to transmit it to someone else! Their immune systems can't handle the strain of the virus, plus, like... rabies is spread through puncture wounds, right? Squirrels have not historically had great odds against predator animals, so that lowers the odds of catching it even more. I keep an eye on the local scurries here, and none of them have been sick, but I agree, having a vet on hand would be super handy!
