Oh? What did the kitten get?

Oh it's you! Lord Demon. [Now he just feels more mischievous~] I bet you can't guess. I made it. Well, half of it. The other half was made by my Senior.

What did you get?

[ But there's a smile on his lips. Xue Yang being wiggly is adorable! ]

One of a kind, then? If so, this lord certainly won't be able to guess.

So you'll have to tell him instead.

Daozhang, I'm only going to use it to protect us! Don't jump to sad conclusions, alright? Promise me.

[He isn't going to cause chaos unless someone asks for it.]

Definitely one of a kind. [He clutches said item in his hand.] I call it the Yin Tiger Tally. Do you wanna see it?

[ Uncertainty touches him at the quick plea. But is also soothed at the promise. ]

A-Yang. [ The fond nickname, to remind the other man of the bond they've managed to form anew. ]

You gave me your word. You have given me no reason, here, to doubt you.

[His insides curl happily at the sound of his nickname. He closes his eyes contentedly and takes a deep breath.]

It's the Yin Tiger Tally. I was working on it and it's powerful.

[ Brave. Xingchen hears that breath and knows it's hard for Xue Yang to answer. Afraid that this fragile bond is too fragile for it.

And oh. Unseen, but Xue Yang likely knows him well enough to not need to see it, Xingchen bites his lip as he thinks on that. And worries at it. ]

Yes, it's powerful. But I don't want you using it if it hurts you. Even if it might help me. Be careful, A-Yang, if you use it. You matter too.

[He made a promise and he has every intention of keeping it. The shadows, the resentful energy don't matter to him more than Xingchen. He has a reason to fight the pull of the Tiger Tally, but they both know it's not a single battle; it's a war.]

It's my last weapon to keep you safe, Daozhang. I'll use Jiangzai first and whatever else I can get my hands on. I know what the Tally can do.

[ They matter to Xingchen. It can't be helping Xue Yang's temper! But he's made his choice, to trust Xue Yang. To give him that chance to have someone believe him. Believe in him. And he has seen efforts to rise to that chance.

So he trusts. ]

And to keep you safe. Don't forget about that while protecting me, alright?

[He can keep the Tally quiet for the time being, stuffing it up his sleeve or down his robe. If it's against him like that, he can use his core to control it. Continuously. That's what he had done in Yi City.]

I'll remember to eat and when we sleep, Shuanghua and Jiangzai can watch over it for me.

You know, I think you could probably find a way to phrase that that's even more vague and creepy than you already did.

If you put a little effort into it, I mean.

[ This gremlin he lives with is far stronger than their world ever gave him credit for. Poorly treated. Poorly trained. And yet Xue Yang has managed to get this far? Amazing. ]

[He was raised in extremes, parented by cruelty and necessity. Either he died or he became exceptionally clever. Xue Yang had chosen the latter because he doesn't believe in just giving up.]

My A-Chen will look after me?

[ Two can play at that game, sir. This girl is made up of 90% sass. ]

If you don't want to share your present, you don't have to go telling everybody about it~!

Yes, I do! It's fun! [He is excited and he has to share the feeling~] I bet you wish you had one.

[Chuckles. At least he won't need to ask for directions. He can just follow the feeling of his blood.]

Alright, alright. [He can handle tea. Since he is in the room he shares with Xiao Xingchen, they keep what they need to brew some on hand.]

[He didn't bother to respond to that. As if he'd be late. And so the demon followed the feeling and arrived a few minutes later. Even being polite enough to knock. Because one of them had to have manners.]

[He looks up when Tianlang-Jun enters, hiding something behind his back. Xue Yang can be such a large child sometimes!]

Get in here and close the door!

[ To have the determination to never give up is exceptional in itself. Xingchen nods, though it might not be seen. ]

Mm. I will look after my A-Yang.

[He can sense the approval and it warms him to his toes.]

I want to see you. I miss your pretty face.

[ Maybe Xue Yang's playfulness is rubbing off on him, but Xingchen fumbles with the controls enough he thinks he switches the feed over to sharing his image. ]

Is that better?

You can find me if it's not enough.

[He gasps and giggles, touched that his Daozhang figured out the weird technology for him! He touches the sweet image with his fingertips, sighing.]

It's not enough. I want to hold you too.

[Good thing he thinks it's cute, humoring him and following the bossy order.]

Well then, what is it?

[He eyes the door to make sure it's shut tight and then he pulls out his Yin Tiger Tally. The piece of metal is shaped like a tiger - thus the name - and it practically drips with demonic energy.]

Do you like it?

[The demon perked up in interest, reaching to take it so he could get a better look. Not above using his blood to make Xue Yang hand it over if needed.

He'll give it back!]

Well isn't this just fascinating~ Did you make it here?

Of course not. I made that years ago. [He isn't happy about letting it go, but he makes up for it by watching Tianlang-Jun like a hawk.]

It's one half of a special whole.

[Silly kitten. It wasn't as if he was trying to steal away his little trinket. He flipped it around in his fingers curiously.]

And what does it do when it's whole?
