We're all back from Eos. I don't know how it was for everyone else, but I got to live in a house with two beautiful women and a charming young man. There was a baby, too, but we had to leave her behind.

Now I'm in this flat that I moved into not long before we left for Eos, and it's fine, really, but it seems a bit empty. I know it won't be that way for long, since I'm very much used to living alone, but I wonder if anyone else feels a bit off after sharing a house with other people for a month.

And is it weird if I miss her? I know she wasn't a real baby, but she was so cute and sweet. Wherever you are, I hope you're doing well, little Violet.

[Daisy smiles sadly at that, looking down at her glass for a moment.]

Yeah, I know.

[Thats been her entire life. Sad endings. Daisy takes another swig of her drink.]

I guess we’ll have to go on the hunt for movies with happy endings then.

Does this place have movies from other worlds?

[ Hob did manage to pick up some books, but he's still learning a lot about this place. He can't put his finger on what seems to be bothering her, but maybe a movie really would cheer her up. ]

[She shrugs, looking out the window in thought.]

We could go check, if you want.

[ It's true, since it seems as though anything can happen here. Plus, many of the place he's seen are obviously not native to this world. ]

We can? Don't tell me you've seen a Blockbuster video pop up over night.

[Daisy laughs softly at that, looking back to him.]

No, but that would be an insane throwback if it did.

[She hasn't actively thought about Blockbuster in who knows how long.]

But, maybe one of the stores around here carries them.

[ Could they? Hob is intrigued by the idea. Not just by the thought of finding familiar movies, but even more books or other things to occupy his time. ]

Sure, why not? We can go look. Unless you'd rather continue sitting here and get sloshed.

[ Which is still not a bad way to spend the evening. ]

[Daisy’s eyebrows raise in surprise, a smile tugging at her lips.]

Was that your plan? To get sloshed tonight?

Well... It's not a bad plan.

[ And he can't be the first one to have the idea around here. ]

[Especially after the last few months, at least for Daisy personally.]

[ Hob thinks it over. ]

Right. New plan. We go out, find the movie, come back, and then get sloshed while we watch it.

[Nothing about this place is ideal, especially with Joric gone. But this as closest her night has felt ideal in a while.]

Sounds like a plan.

[She gets to her feet, feeling only slightly buzzed.]

Maybe grab some snacks on the way back?

Now you're on to something.

[ Hob may be a bit tipsy, but it won't stop him from heading out for a supply run. With any luck, they'll be back with food and a movie to watch. ]

[Holding onto the bag of snacks and movies, Daisy waits for Hob to unlock his door.]

I can’t believe they had it.

[She might’ve grabbed a few other movies as well. Even if they don’t end up watching them tonight. Once inside she sets the bag on the table and pulls out the snacks they had picked up, and pride and prejudice.]

[ Hob is clearly buzzing with excitement. He didn't think he'd be able to see familiar things from home in this world. While they were at it, he grabbed a couple of books and a few music records, too.

He offers to take the movie so he can get it ready in the player, then he pours them each a fresh drink and sets them on the coffee table. ]

[Daisy finds his excitement endearing, enough so that it does make her smile briefly. Taking a seat on the couch, she opens the bag of chips she had bought and offers him the bag after taking a handful.]

How many times have you seen this?

[ Hob gladly accepts the salty snacks, which goes perfectly with his drink, and sits back on the couch next to her as the movie starts. ]

Oh, just a few... dozen?

[ Which becomes very evident when Hob starts mouthing Darcy's lines at certain points during the movie. ]

My, what a different time compared to now, isn't it?

[Daisy has to press her lips together to keep from laughing when he mouths some of the characters lines.]

You have no idea.

[She mumbles under her breath in vague amusement. Okay, so maybe she hadn’t time traveled that far back. But even the 1930s was enough to know just how much has changed since then.]

Is this the guy that women fall in love with? He seems like a jerk.

[Daisy asks during a quiet part of the movie.]

[ No idea? She would be surprised, he thinks with amusement, as well. ]

He gets better. That's kind of the plot.

[ Hob reaches for his drink and pours himself another glass. He will likely be sloshed by the end of this film, after all. ]

But it's like, come on you two, just... get a room!

[So far, it’s not the type of movie she would’ve picked. His commentary is amusing though, and it has her smiling at him as she watches him pour himself another glass.]

They can’t let that happen too soon, they need to drag it out.

[And since he has the bottle in his hand already, Daisy holds her glass out for him to top hers off.]

[ Hob tops off Daisy's drink before he sets the bottle down, then sits back and takes a sip of his whiskey. ]

Naturally. If there's no build-up, it's not interesting.

They drag out horror movies too, right?

[ It's not criticism; just a point. ]

Sometimes.

[Daisy says in a defensive tone, but judging by her smile she doesn't actually care. She won't tell him that she's struggling to like the movie so far. But it wasn't the movie that kept her here, it was the company. Whether she's allowed herself to realize it or not, she needed to not be alone tonight.]

He's really good at putting his foot in his mouth.

[Daisy mumbles against the rim of her glass, taking a swig.

When it looks like they're about to kiss, Daisy glances over at Hob to see his reaction. Except, of course, it doesn't happen. Not yet. They have to drag his out even more.]

[ Hob won't protest if they watch a horror movie of her choice next time. ]

Most definitely, he is, but many men are good at that. It's a hard thing for one to bear their heart to another. Especially when they're used to keeping others at such a distance.

[ He reaches into the bag of chips. ]

[Daisy's smile fades when she's reminded of Joric, and a particular conversation they had about a year ago.]

Yeah, it is.

[And she's just going to down the rest of whats in her glass.]

It's easy to rule him as one thing. Proud. Or arrogant. Or an asshole. But what I like is how layered they are and very human. Darcy is those things, yes, but he's also injured, and introverted. He's not good with people. Doesn't easily connect with them the way others around him do, so it's easier for him to dismiss them until he meets someone who's impossible to dismiss. Once he learns how to let his guard down, he can be genuine.

[ Hob smiles and laughs a little. ]

Told you I've only seen this a few dozen times. Everyone's got a little Darcy and a little Elizabeth in them, I think.

[His discussion brings her out of her head, which she's thankful for. His understanding of the characters is sweet, and clearly something he's passionate about.]
