[Starting this off with talking and visuals right away. Lois is settled on a couch in her apartment, one arm wrapped around her and the other tapping at her earpiece.]

So I noticed as I was exploring this ... world? Dimension? Area?

[Hm. What should she call this? She huffs out a breath and quirks a grin.]

This isn't my first time being off of my Earth but it's definitely by first time being in a whole other time. That's real anyhow.

[Moving on!]

I noticed that there's a Daily Planet here. Next to Wayne Tower which was weird to see. It's there though and I want to know who it showed up with. Or if any of you go there, work there, all that.

I did go in and look around but none of the usual people were there of course.

[Does she sounds slightly disappointed? Of course. Realistically she hadn't expected any of them though but much like not expecting her father to be around it doesn't mean it isn't still disappointing.]

Basically I want in on whatever is going on in there. It's only fair, I was their ace reporter over at the Daily Planet.

[She laughs then, her smile turning mischievous.]

Okay, okay, not their ace reporter. Not yet anyhow.

[ Rin lets out a small laugh in turn. ]

Well, it is always pretty busy here. I, uhm, hope you've been adjusting well.

[Shake yourself out of it, Lane. The laugh she gives after that is a little off but she seems to be brushing off that bit of a down mood quick.]

More or less. Military brat, I'm kind of used to moving all over the place.

[That said her brows perk.]

Have you been here very long? I think the longest anyone's told me they've been here so far has been five months but this place has been here longer than that, yeah?

"Military brat" means moving around a lot where you're from?

[ Rin thinks for a moment. ]

Uhm... I think I've been here about seven or eight months.

[ And her expression grows somber, seeing as she has once again reminded herself how long she's been here, way from home and people that need her. ]

Oh yeah! "Military brat" is a nickname for kids whose parents work in the military. Most military people only stay at one base or another for at most a couple of years at a time. You end up moving from state to state or country to country constantly. And with my dad, well ... those base assignments didn't last very long.

[Sam Lane was a hypervigilant and secretive man. Even among her distant military brat friends Lois moved far more often than they did.

Considering how she had felt moments before Lois naturally looks sympathetic.]

That's quite a while. You must know a lot about this place by now though.

I see! That's really interesting. People aren't allowed to leave the country back home, so this is new to me. I mean, I figured the rest of the world was different, but still... I didn't know much about the world outside Japan.

[ Her father was a samurai, so he could've been called to arms if it became necessary. But their life was a stationary one, running the dojo and training students in a ritualized form of swordsmanship. ]

And, ah... not as much as I'd like. There's still many mysteries. Doesn't help that every other month brings some new thing I didn't even know was possible before that!

Every other month? That's some awfully regular timing.

[Then again they are stuck somewhere where the environment is more or less controlled, yeah? Or so she's gathered.]

What sort of mysteries are we talking about here?

[ This girl's observant. ]

Oh, phew... let me see. Who Echo really is. What's outside this small bubble we live in. What other forces are at play here. What's in the massive underground system below the hospital. If Aurora is even telling us the truth.

[Lois is quiet, soaking up everything Rin is putting out there. And naturally the first thing that pings her is --]

There's an underground system here? Has anyone explored it yet?

[...]

Do you want to go explore it?

Someone has and found out it's not survivable for humans.

[ Sorry, Lois, gotta nip that in the bud. ]

Completely not survivable? We're not talking "wear a spacesuit and some oxygen" levels of survivability, are we?

[Cause she's done that, okay. True it was going to retrieve Clark but details.]

How about getting outside this bubble?

No, the people who went there have stated that even protective gear won't help.

And I don't know what's outside. I'm not sure anyone has ventured there. We've been told that it's inhabitable.

[ Rin has her doubts, but she knows that that is not an undertaking for her alone, and so far she hasn't banded together with anyone to explore outside. ]

[Damn. There's still the idea of the outside though.]

Yeah, sounds like a good excuse and all. Until I see hard proof that it's inhabitable I'm not buying it.

[ So, Rin by now knows she needs to build alliances. And she has a basic discomfort with openly broadcasting her intentions on the public network.

She mulls it over for a moment, then says: ]

Say, would you like a basic tour of Etraya in person?

[Thankfully Lois totally gets it. Sure she's very comfortable with voicing her distrust but if it comes down to plans, well.]

Whaaaat? Oh my gosh that is so nice of you!

[Okay so maybe a little too much enthusiasm there.]

Let's meet outside of the apartments whenever you're free.

[ Very nice. ]

I just so happen to be free right now! Meet you there in a few?

Definitely. Thanks!

[True to her word she'll be found lounging around the entrance to the apartments outside if she makes it first. If not she'll greet Rin with a big ol' wave of a hand.]
