( and he's waiting. julian was already on site, now he's just on-guard too. for those who may be extra perceptive, there's a thin later of green, telekinetic energy around him; layers of it forming barrier after barrier to keep any potential hit from causing damage. he looks angry (because he is), fists balled at his sides and eyes looking towards the trolley station.

[If Gadriel knew the terrain, he'd have come on foot. There's something a bit absurd about sitting on a trolley listening to soft jazz on one's way to demonstrate why it was unwise to tempt the wrath of the Emperor's Angels.

[But he arrives eventually, all 1100 pounds and nearly ten feet of him in full armor. Who knows what his facial expression is, because he is wearing his helmet. ]

( sucks to be this guy, julian's hubris is eternal. it's necessary even, given the role he's given himself. he's a leader, an x-man, someone who won't let anyone talk to those he considers his like that.

unfortunately for the both of them, that just happens to be jay in this specific instance. there's some complicated feelings around that, given everything that happened with jay, but. that's a problem for him to deal with later.

julian's arms remain crossed over his chest, sneakers down against the pavement of the basketball court. the guy shows up, and julian doesn't need to ask who he is, because he answers for them. he's big, but it's nothing julian hasn't seen before. he's fought blob. the hulk. lifted heavier and bigger.

so he - raises a brow. moves a metal hand using his telekinesis (keeping his arms over his chest, they're not connected) so it's in front of him, middle finger up. )

Why would I do that?

[Of course it sucks to be a member of the Adeptus Astartes. Their entire lives are designed around privation and suffering because pain makes one stronger, and pain proves your devotion to the Emperor and his holy cause.

[You can't do that if your life doesn't suck. ]

[He's withstood psychic attacks before. It didn't mean they didn't hit. He managed to dodge out of the worst of it, the forward wave of it hitting his legs as he dives to the side, tumbling him over.

[But not before he had thrown a combat knife at the very open target. ]

Telekinetic.

( a correction, not that it matters much. he looks unguarded, but julian keller rarely is. he's been hit from all angles before, and knows better than to leave himself open to physical attacks regardless of how far away his enemy is. the knife hits the barrier around him, and flings back somewhere behind him.

julian could crush him. it'd be easy. unfortunately, he generally prefers to keep to non-lethal methods of dealing with those he's fighting, and he's not out to actually maim the guy. not yet.

his eyes glow a soft green, but there's no physical movement from julian himself while the basketball hoop's pole bends and drops straight for where the guy's fallen. he's wearing armor, he can take it. )

[His armor can absolutely take a...basketball hoop pole. There are wounds you should worry about, and a pole that is a few inches taller than he is is not even worth a thought.

[So he doesn't waste his time thinking about it. Whatever it's made of, the ceramite of his armor is probably harder.]

( but he's up. still standing where he started at, and now - raising a hand, to gesture the man forward. )

Perforce, I cannot use everything I have. [He doesn't like you, but you don't deserve to be chainsworded in half. There's a *spectrum*.

[He strips his sword and bolter off, dropping them to the side. They are biocoded to him--it's not like anyone could use them against him.

He bolts toward the other man, just enough to get to his top speed (don't ask it's ridiculous) and then dodges hard to the side sliding on his knees. ]

[ Jay trails off after that, one hand grabbing the other elbow and squeezing. What he really remembers last is how cold he was getting with Stryker's men standing over him and not even paying him any mind. Julian doesn't need to hear that. ]

I don't know if anything after that was real.

[ It didn't seem like hell. Stryker's right though: Jay isn't going to heaven. He only got the reasons wrong. But that's not fit for discussion. ]

Guthrie - you flew here using your wings, right? The very wings Stryker had taken from you. How do you think you got those back? 'cause you definitely weren't healing right after they were gone.

( he could get angry. tell jay what a stupid, bullshit move it was to go to stryker of all people. but julian, sadly, kind of gets it: the desperation to help, to make a difference, to save their friends. it was too late for them at that point, and jay's attempt had hurt a lot more than it helped. he's still angry about it, but - sofia's back now. she's wind dancer again. brian is back. despite all the bullshit, they were able to bring back their people and make things better, and krakoa was meant to be a new start for all of them. )

[ The stress is apparent; that's the very question that's been keeping up at night. It's been hard to not go a little crazy and Jay only has the shock of a new universe to protect himself from his poor coping skills. ]

I thought maybe Josh - maybe he healed my body like he healed Mr. Beaubier's, but couldn't bring him back. You said I died. I know I was dying... Last night I thought maybe it was God, as punishment for Stryker blaspheming and being a false prophet. I saw a lot of gold, but I think I was hallucinating.
