CHIRPER

⏵ CHIRPER ⏴
Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways characters can interact with this:
  • Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional.
  • When forms are not filled out, they are filled out by the companion bots of Etraya! This means that while the character themself is not choosing to play with CHIRPER, their player still can.
  • Other characters can be prompted to fill out their friends' profiles for them.
  • Alternatively, they choose not to fill out the form, and it remains unfilled!

This is just a fun little way of expanding CR. For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER toplevels are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

Once characters' profiles are up, other characters will be given the option of giving them a "like" or a "dislike" (using ✓ and ✕ symbols in the subject line of the comment) but they can also provide an answer as to why they gave that answer! Or just respond to the contents of their profile, +1ing the fact that if Barnabas were to get laid more often, maybe he would be less of a sourpuss.

you bet they do!!
you don't want to give roses or tulips for a funeral, for example
since those tend to mean uhhh love and life, which. awkward!
some people do just look at what's pretty or matches, sure, but I think it's fun to really consider what the flowers might mean

it wasn't mine either, actually, but I just asked for Aurora to surprise me
with a dog that would maybe have a hard time getting adopted
and then I got Smokey!

it really is, man
I'm trying to get a music player on the network for folks too for that reason!!

I would've thought people'd want to send roses and tulips, if that's what they mean. Isn't that how most people'd want to be remembered? As someone who was loved and alive?

The robot lady gave you a dog? Laura's asking around about getting one... are you SURE that's a dog and not a robot?

Could set up a live feed. Like they used to do on radio, have singers come in for live performances.

Mmm, I can see where you're coming from
And for the most part, yeah, most people would want to be remembered that way
It wouldn't be a bad idea, but some people are sensitive maybe to
Being reminded of the life lost vs. respecting that their time has passed
So flowers can reflect that
And there's a whole etiquette around the 'respectful' ones to pick but more and more people are kind of doing their own things anyway
Which is fun too!

I'm pretty sure
he's organic enough that I couldn't tell the difference if he was secretly a robot
oh man a live feed though
I could do one for music AND for my dog

I wouldn't want to give flowers that weren't respectful. I guess I thought that sending the flowers was the respectful part. Some flowers can be pretty expensive.

If your dog can dance, it can be the same feed.
hasitsthorns: You know it, baby (CHICKEN FINGIES!)

[personal profile] hasitsthorns 2025-03-20 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It is!
there's also just lots of weird rules and expectations, so a lot of people send the same ones to be 'safe' but I think as long as your intentions obviously came from a good place
I mean, I'd hope no one would be upset
but yeah, they are, and especially specific ones needed for special occasions a lot of times
like the mark-up on romantic flowers around prom? insane

he can't! ... yet
but that's a fun idea to try and teach him, honestly

Is it? I never bought prom flowers. Is that because of proms, or is it because proms are usually in the late spring and that's wedding season too?

I know I've seen dogs doing tricks like that, but I don't know if it'd be worth all the effort. There's not that many of us to see it, so it's more about does it make you smile. 'cause the dog'll get treats, so he'll be happy.
hasitsthorns: (Am I about to see your Skyward Sword?)

it could be either or, honestly!
I never went to prom so I wouldn't know, but even I noticed the price tags

Smokey would probably do anything I asked of him
he's one of the best boys there is
