Sure, it is irresponsible. But accidents happen, and it seems like no one was hurt. If whomever did it would just admit to it, and we can get through to them how what they did was reckless, I think we'd avoid accidents like this in the future.

Now you're being too forgiving. Coddling the dumbass is only going to play down the damage they did, and they won't bother giving a shit. Then when this happens next time there's a chance of them doing it around people who can't defend themselves because they wouldn't have had any incentive to control themselves.

What exactly do you think my plan B should be? Start an interrogation across the whole city? Kick down doors to find out who pushed a train car over, and throw them in some sort of jail?

As fun as kicking down doors is, I doubt you'd need to go that far. There aren't many of us here and you're already asking who did it, either they'll speak up or someone will say something eventually.

Then I'd call them reckless, punch them out, and make them fix all the shit they wrecked. Make them take some responsibility.

We're not "punching anyone out" for property damage, and so far I have no leads outside of "maybe a bird did it." I don't know about you, but I'm not thrilled at the idea of a bird repairing a trolley station.

Someone I know back home solves all his problems by punching, and it always works out for him.

But if a bird did it then there's no point. That's just animal abuse.
