[The voice of a mid-thirties man, who sounds absolutely exhausted:]
So.
Who broke it?
I'm not mad. I just want to know. And have a long conversation about respecting shared resources.
[This is, of course, in reference to the now damaged blue trolley line.]

cw: old timey ableism...
[He doesn't sound remotely sorry for not considering the possibility.]
Perhaps this is for the best. Build strength, do not rely on the trolley as a crutch, ere you further wither.

[A beat.]
If you truly require it, though I have my doubts, Cidolfus may be able to assist in its repairs.

Never heard of him. A username would be helpful.
no subject
[He might be from the year 878 in his world, but he isn't a stranger to soap or other basc hygiene!]
His username is Cid, it should not be too terribly difficult for you to find him. He is likewise infirm, perhaps you might take solace in that.
@Cid
Is this payback? What are you telling people Iām infirm for?
no subject
[Of course Barnabas is referring to Cid's petrification and the disability it affords him, not... uh...]

You are able-bodied enough.
[ You're welcome, Cid. ]

[ He might also just want to see Odin stand corrected, but Cid is ambulatory. The man can fight.
So infirm does seem inaccurate.
But also the Odin thing. ]

Surely Odin will hold you to that.

[He almost sounds disappointed.]

Give me an afternoon to measure the track and do a couple drawings. As for proper repair, though⦠Weāll have to see what can be salvaged and what needs replacing. Then thereās the smithing, but youāre handy with a hammer, arenāt you?
Thereās a few others with proper workshops and garages, too, if you need the hands.

[It's the only part he thinks he's in the right mindset for right now, anyway. The measuring and math parts feel a little distant to him, at the moment.]
Sevika's also recommended we ask Aurora for help.
[But...
He's not sure he wants to do that. Metalwork and repair is something he feels good about doing. It helps people, it uses his skills. He wants to at least try to fix this first.]

While weāre at it⦠maybe we should add a few more trolleys to the service.
[He genuinely enjoyed riding it. He didnāt love the wait time, and then after Barnabas held it up for some time, then this⦠well. His hand written, personal time table was no longer accurate.]

Constructing whole new trolley cars would take a lot of materials. Not saying we can't, but it'll be costly. But speeding up the existing one... that's less resource intensive, in my opinion. Depending on our methods.

[Cid is a ship builder and an engineer. A lifelong tinkerer and inventor- ]
Weāre talking about the same trolleys, right?

I'll contact him.

[Aaand Barnabas is fine with ending it there too. Despite the horseshit that came out of his mouth, he's not really bothered by their conversation, and he's even less bothered by the idea that he might have upset Jayce with what he said...
All the same, he's always down for ending conversations over continuing them, so lucky Jayce!]
