CHIRPER

⏵ CHIRPER ⏴
Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:
  • Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
  • When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya!
  • Other characters can be prompted to fill out their friends' profiles for them. This includes the Q&A section!
  • Alternatively, they choose not to fill out the form, and it remains unfilled! These unfilled profiles will not be posted live.
  • Characters either like or dislike others CHIRPER profiles. These responses are private between the characters involved.

For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER toplevels are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

Please feel free to switch out any of the Q&A questions with those listed here! We have an example of a filled out form here.

[ She's flattered! She just... answered the questions. It's her first Chirper. ]

He's a darling. I quite like him.

I have power over all the elements that make up the atmosphere. Storms are perhaps simply the flashiest and most recognizable force I can control.

[ Precisely -- she'd been honest, forthcoming, and demonstrated an impressive amount of wisdom. Harold likes it. ]

I don't know him well but I take your recommendation highly based on your description.

Yet I assume the subtler forces are much more impactful.

And are you familiar with such forces, sir?

Not personally, but I am a student of science and in that respect I admire the subtleties greatly.

What sciences do you study? I am more familiar with those involved with the Earth's climate, but I can appreciate other fields.

[ Ororo tends to like nerds. Sometimes they hyperfixate or overshare and sometimes they disappear into a workshop or theory for long periods of time. ]

[ Harold hyperfixates, overshares, and sometimes disappears, but he's quite socially adept for a nerd, despite his personal feelings to the contrary. ]

I'm primarily a computer scientist. In terms of meteorology I am merely an appreciative observer. In addition, I have been entirely humbled by some of the abilities I've borne witness to here.

Someone very near and dear to me went to college to study that. I'm afraid that when she starts to go on on firewalls and how to arrange data, I just can't catch up. In that sense, we all have things that humble us. I think that reminds us that it is alright to ask for help.

[ Oh dear. This is extremely charming, in that Harold admires this greatly. He actually has to gather himself for a moment before he responds. ]

I agree. The basis for the most remarkable accomplishments in human history have been when we've worked together beyond our self-imposed boundaries.

Asking for help does not diminish us at all.

Yes. We've only gotten as far as we have through the effort of community, I think. The same will get us through the missions, though I have met others who might think differently.

[ Some view it all as a competition, after all. Ororo just didn't want to be boxed into that mindset. ]

That aside — if you would not mind, could I perhaps have your name? It would be nice to use it in the future, should our paths cross in-person.

I could say that as long as the majority believe otherwise, we will persevere, but I confess that doesn't actually matter to me. I will not be drawn into a competition for survival here. If we have not collectively evolved past that then I don't wish to participate.

My name is Harold Finch. May I call you Ms. Monroe?
agoddessonce: (found you)

sorry for the delay!

[personal profile] agoddessonce 2025-06-21 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ms Munroe was what my students called me. [ - Or, well, Professor Munroe, but she really really wasn't a professor. ]

So I would prefer Ororo, actually, if you would not mind my calling you Harold?
ornithologist: (104)

not at all <3

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-06-22 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This is the first time in a very long time Harold has actually considered that request. She's just very... well. He has a weakness for people who are thoughtful as well as kind. He's grown self-protective as a matter of necessity, and he's a private person to begin with, as he likes to say, but beneath all that reserve Harold is an extremely soft-natured person. It's tempting whenever he sees an opportunity to let go of some of that armor.

But the times he does are few and far between. ]

I actually prefer not to be on a first name basis with someone I've just met. Though I realize that makes me insufferably stuffy.

[ He at least has a sense of humor and self-awareness about it. ]
agoddessonce: (resting)

[personal profile] agoddessonce 2025-06-24 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oof, rejected! That's fine, Ororo can also appreciate a clearly stated boundary. Saves the time of wondering where you ought to stand with someone. ]

Not stuffy at all, but clear and professional.

Mr Finch it is, then. I hope our paths cross again sooner rather than later.

[ Oh no. This is why he tries to ignore anyone attempting to get him to use first names -- he's always just so awkward about it, and fumbles the social interaction. ]

Please don't mistake it for professionalism. It's only that I'm a very private person.

I would be pleased to encounter you again, Ms. Munroe.
