There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:

Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya!
Other characters can be prompted to fill out their friends' profiles for them. This includes the Q&A section!
Alternatively, they choose not to fill out the form, and it remains unfilled! These unfilled profiles will not be posted live.
Characters either like or dislike others CHIRPER profiles. These responses are private between the characters involved.

For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER toplevels are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

Instantaneous?!

You mean teleportation? Wow, we've got faster than light travel, but nobody's ever even come close on teleportation.

And think of it as...well, it's not magic, but it functions in ways that can look like it, depending on who is looking at it.

Yes, teleportation, exactly. It's been my life's research. It's also pretty limited in how and where- we send the ships out via teleportation, but without a Hexgate tower anywhere else, they have to return to us the old fashioned way.

Huh, alright. "Force-driven"...

Still, you could end up networking that through towers, maybe? I mean, it's astounding enough with just single site to single site, but...

And yeah, think of it like telekinesis, drawn from an energy field created by life itself. And using it to power/command machinery is mostly a lost art - I've heard of it being used to create temple guardians from stone, but again, that's thousands of years ago. And it's stone.

For Force-powered machinery...wow, you'd have to go back to the Rakatan Infinite Empire, which is a good 35,000 years ago in my time.

This is all by way of saying I REALLY want to see this work in person. If you don't mind a curious onlooker.

Without someone to protect and care for a second gate elsewhere, I wouldn't want it replicated just yet. This technology is so new to the world, and I can count the amount of people I know who can read the runic language on one hand, let alone letting another city build their own. But my dream would be these, all across the world. Right now it's just trade ships, but it would be easy to see how this could be used to rescue people from natural disasters.

It does sound a lot like magic when you phrase it that way. Magic is invisible in most of it's states, but everpresent- like air. It only takes physical form when crystalized, or utilized by someone with a natural ability to use it, like a mage.

Mal Durrish. I'm what's known as a Jedi Knight where I'm from. And what you're talking about makes me think of our Holonet - relay satellites that get high-definition three dimensional transmissions quickly across vast areas of space, to and from multiple planets, stations, even ships.

It faced a lot of similar problems to set up - and maintenance had some unique problems. Encryption, for one.

This is going to sound a little backwards, but we actually don’t have that. Transmissions were on the to-do list, but harder to accomplish than you’d think. Relays, like you said, would be the best way to do it, but we’ve kept most of our tech localized within Piltover. Still, it’s a good idea to think about. These communicators have been more than worth their weight in gold for the convenience.

Huh. Strange how that balances out.

And yeah, keeping unauthorized users off the datastream - get onto it from any receiver satellite, you could theoretically hijack all the downstream satellites. So a combination of SUPER tough encoding algorithms and regular sector patrols became a thing.

...There's always someone trying to ruin something good, isn't there?

Or profit from it at the expense of others. Which is sort of what people like me are for.

But stars, you've got my mind buzzing over all this. The only example I know of from my universe of anything like this was from...oh, gosh, tens of thousands of years back. Half legend now.

You're one of the people that guard it, I guess?

Only takes someone with the right drive to redevelop it. If it was done before, it can be done again.

Once, in my case! But we get into a lot stranger things.

And I'm really going to hope you're wrong - the stories are, to put it mildly, pretty grim.

It's an intent thing. You're doing it to make lives genuinely better, and that's going to make all the difference.

What you're doing - stars, I hope you keep doing stuff like it for a very long and productive life.

My own example is just...the other side of that intent. But, thankfully, hasn't been a problem for about four thousand years? Give or take.

It does sound extremely esoteric where you're from when we're using the same premise. Is there a reason why no one's researched it? Other than fear of what it's capable of?
