The past is Six of Swords, reversed. It represents a time when you felt you were unable to move forward. Rather resisting change and the unknown, so you stopped your own growth.

The present is the Emperor, reversed. This means there is a feeling of lack of control or ability to make decisions for yourself. It asks you to re-evaluate how you're making decisions and your relationships.

The future is Eight of Swords. Meaning if nothing changes, you'll remain trapped and feeling as though nothing will change.

On the other hand, what do positive readings do? Give a pat on the head that things are fine. A negative reading makes one think. How to avoid, how to mitigate, what to change. They might be even more useful.
