Why?

any number of reasons
they could be taken away
you maybe in a world where they don't work
you could be injured and unable to use them

I was taught to fight before I manifested my powers
but still, I can't always rely on them being capable of saving me
it's best to have multiple methods

That's a relief.

I thought those with superpowers just depended on them blindly.
