Hi, everyone!
It's Tanabata.
Some of you might know but for those that don't...
It's one of my favorite holidays!
(ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧
Tanabata is the 7th day of the 7th moon of the year!
And why is it special?
Well...
It's the story of two lovers!
Princess Orihime, a seamstress, wove beautiful clothes by the heavenly river.
Hikoboshi was the cow herder who lived on the other side of the river.
The two fell in love instantly and married.
(*’∀’人)♥
Their love and devotion was so deep though that Orihime stopped weaving and Hikoboshi allowed his cows to wander the heavens.
Seeing this, Orihime's father (the god of the Heavens!!) was upset with them for neglecting their duties and separated them.
He broke the bridge that spanned the heavenly river and forbade them from seeing one another.
Orihime pleaded with her father to let them see each other at least once a year.
˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚
Because he loved his daughter, he allowed this and said that once a year - on the seventh day of the seventh moon - the bridge will reappear so they can meet each other amongst the stars of the heavenly river.
If it's rainy though, the bridge is swallowed by the stars and they'll have to wait another year to see each other again...
Thankfully, this year we've had some nice weather so they should be able to meet!
On Tanabata and during July, people write wishes on small pieces of colored paper called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo trees.
I have some at the dojo, which is open to anyone, and would be happy for people to come by!

The only seeing each other once a year seems like a crappy deal, though. Especially since he doesn't even always give them that.

well hey!!
that's a good enough reason as any to have a holiday, I'd say!
it is kind of unfortunate
but I also like that, I guess
the idea of loving someone so much even that little time together is worth it

that guy blows
like, if I were Orihime I would have just flipped him the bird and seen my boyfriend whenever
but then nothing would get woven either, which
I guess that'd upset a lot of people?

Then again, gods aren't exactly known for being reasonable.

What do you think the cows did in heaven?
[ He's thinking about it in real time...... ]

you know
cows do just kind of wander around...? so I figured mostly that
only they'd always have everything
the best grass and stables and all that
since it's heaven!!

i wonder if they liked it
that sounds like it would be a pretty good deal for the cows though
i don't think they want to do anything but have a lot of grass and somewhere to sleep
