I haven’t been able to find my brother, Joshua, since the fog came. Has anyone seen a man, a little over 6 feet tall, light brown hair that’s a big longer, blue-green eyes, wears a lot of black and red, has a very formal and convoluted way of speaking? He’s kind, curious, intelligent. He would have done his best to help anyone who may have needed it during the mission.

Please, if anyone has seen him, call me, text me, yell my name from the top of a building, I don’t care. I just need to know that he’s okay.

[It doesn't take too long for Clive to get to the store. He was already out and about, so adjusting course had been simple. He sees Scott and stops in front of him, hands on his hips.]

Alright master snacker. Lead the way.

[He's honestly a little surprised to see Clive arrive so quickly, maybe it's part of that older brother thing? ...And the fact that he's probably been walking around for a while now, looking for Joshua. Okay, kind of a shitty thought and feeling, so Scott just tries to shove it away before huffing at the older man.]

Alright, time to have your taste buds go into overdrive.

[And he'll lead Clive into the small store! Since he's a man on a mission, Scott just heads straight to the ice cream section, with the mutant standing in front of the cooler section and waiting until Clive stops next to him.]

There's so many flavors, you definitely would've picked wrong.

[Clive nods and follows Scott. He is the expert here, so to speak, and so far Clive hasn’t been steered wrong with Scott’s suggestions. Might as well trust him with this one, too.

And he is glad that he chose to do so because, yeah, there are a lot of options.]

I… definitely would have.

[The spoils of choice the future certainly brings…..]

It’s a good thing I have you with me, then, isn’t it?

[What a little brat-- but Scott doesn't waste much time, with the teen opening the freezer door and pulling out a 'party' sized tub of Moose Tracks. Yeah, they're going all out here, it's what he kind of promised Clive. The best part is that they really don't even have to pay for it, with Scott just nodding at the older man before leading the way to the counter to grab a couple of spoons.

They got their battle utensils ready.]

So, we got the ice cream secured. That's step one. Step two is just sitting on the curb out here and eating this until you want to throw up.

[Totally necessary.]

I can be a pretty quick learner.

[It’s fun and Clive is fond of it, the brattiness. Clive does, however, raise an eyebrow at the sheer size of the tub that Scott chooses. Do people really eat this much ice cream, and by themselves no less? That was something he doesn’t think he will get used to: the excess. Coming from a world and a place where each resource was precious, being able to walk into a store and grab a bucket of a confectionary bigger than his head was novel.

Clive follows, then holds the door to the shop open for Scott.]

I’m not sure that will take me long.

[He sits down all the same and holds his hand out for a spoon.]

[He plops himself on the ground right next to Clive, setting the ice cream between them before handing a spoon over to the older man with a small smile. Still a little teasing, but there's some genuine worry there too, knowing that the reason behind all this is the disappearance of a family member. His younger brother. It's hard, he kind of gets it. He'd be pretty bummed if Alex was here and then disappeared on him after a few months or so.

But instead of mentioning any of that, he pulls open the container with a small flourish before jamming his spoon right into the middle of the ice cream.]

Come on, just dig in. Like this. [...] There's also a tradition where you try to eat as much as you can in the first minute without stopping, you know you're on the right track when your brain starts hurting.

[Despite having some hesitation in burdening Scott with any of this, he can't help but find some comfort in the silly things and little flourishes. There is more than one way to find comfort and this? This was nice.]

You know, [Clive is a bit more delicate about scooping some of the sweet treat.] I think you might be trying to trick me again.

[Clive bumps his shoulder against Scott's and smiles. It's small, but it reaches his eyes.]

Now why would I do that?

[Scott starts digging more of the ice cream from the tub, a decently sized chunk of it laying in his spoon and he lifts an eyebrow towards Clive.] How about I do it with you?

[This definitely isn't another trick, nope.]

Hmm, I couldn't think of any reason why you might want to do that.

[Clive chuckles before raising his spoon in a sort of cheers.]

On the count of three?

On three.

[Scott lifts the spoon closer to his lips, though he doesn't quite indulge just yet. He's just getting prepared and show Clive that he's definitely serious about this before they start counting. Nothing more serious than having the ice cream clear and ready to be consumed, right? In one big brain freeze.

Although, when they eventually do count to three, Scott doesn't shove the spoon into his mouth, he's definitely going to wait until Clive does so first. It's just all part of the experience or journey.]

[It’s almost second nature for Clive to wait for the other person to take the first bite at this point. He has been exposed to enough strange foods that do even stranger things to a person that he generally doesn’t risk it.

That being said, he is not the least bit surprised when Scott doesn’t take the bite on three. He had considered not doing it either but, what the hell, you only live once.

While this isn’t his first experience with ice cream, it’s his first experience with so much of it in his mouth at once and wow. He winces at the strange and sudden pain in his head and muscles through it, grateful for his higher body temperature as it melts the ice cream quickly.]

Are you sure you’re not actually an imp or some other creature set upon this planet to torment me with sugary cold death?

[If this is his singular contribution to Etraya, he doesn't think he'll be at all disappointed. A bright, easy laugh leaves Scott at Clive's comment, bold enough that gets his body to shake and sure, maybe that means some of that ice cream is going to splatter on his clothes, but none of that matters. It's not like he's super tidy about shit anyway.

Imp is definitely a new description though, he has to hand it to him.]

Took you long enough. That's right, I was drawn to this place just to torment you.

[That and maybe distract him from losing his brother, but he's almost forgotten about that himself. Just for a few seconds.] But come on, how was it?

[Scott's laugh is infectious, and while Clive doesn't quite chuckle, his smile certainly reaches his eyes. He thinks about trying to stop the ice cream from splattering a bit, but doesn't. Consider it recompense for the brain freeze.]

Oh no, [His words are so flat the sarcasm is painfully obvious.] Whatever shall I do, plagued by this creature?

[Clive heaves a sigh and digs out more ice cream.]

I suppose we will just have to eat this bucket of ice cream to appease him.

[Finally, Scott shoves a spoonful of his own treat into his mouth, taking all of of the icy sweetness and squinting hard as the freeze hits his brain, but it's nothing he hasn't experienced before. He just had to do this with Clive.]

Now you're catching on.

[With them settling into an almost easy atmosphere, Scott wonders if he should bring up Joshua or not. But uh, maybe he'll just leave that to Clive if he feels comfortable with it. If not, it's fine with him, they can just continue eating ice cream until they're both sick and shit. He wouldn't mind.]

[Clive will continue to eat the ice cream, but at a far more moderate pace. He wasn’t keen to get another brainfreeze. It was surprisingly painful, short though it was. He is content to sit with Scott, banter a bit, just exist in his orbit. It was soothing in its own way. There were many ways to handle grief and he is finding this is one he particularly enjoys.

Though this is a lot of sugar.]
