Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:

• Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
• When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya, or by other characters on behalf of their friends! This includes the Q&A section.
• Characters can either like or dislike others' CHIRPER profiles. These responses are public.
• This is voluntary on an OOC basis; if the character doesn't have a profile completed by themselves or anyone else, nothing shows up for them on CHIRPER.
• For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER profiles are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

This month there is a special 👻 SPOOKY SEASON 👻 addition: instead of ✓ or ✕ for like or dislike, it's 🎃 and 💀. Whatever the character has the most votes for shows up appended to their username on the network for the next month, as in, un: aurora 💀.

As have I, for many reasons. We live dangerous and painful lives, Jayce. There is no shame in stumbling under the pressure of it all.

[Clive has him in a vise, whether he realizes it or not. What do you say, to something like that? To brush off his own struggles as unimportant would be to say that Clive's don't matter either. To admit how much he stumbles would be to shatter any self-delusion he is capable of handling his emotional state by himself. Redirect focus? That works.]

I've heard about what your world is going through. The pressure of existing in that environment at all is a kind of difficulty few would understand.

[Clive is very familiar with the 'redirect focus' technique, but he can still respect the hesitancy to acknowledge one's pain. It is something he struggles with, too, after all.]

Believe it or not, the state of my world is not what has pushed me to breaking points. That has focused me, given me purpose. It's having the ones we love taken from us that hurts more.

[Clive looks at the message he sent for a moment before sending a follow up.]

You don't have to carry this weight by yourself.

[This gives him pause too, now for a different reason. What if he does tell Clive? He hasn't experienced loss in the way Clive probably means it. Every part of his journey has been self-centered, and often times, of his own making. How selfish would it come across if all he can talk about is his guilt, when Clive's dealt with so much worse?]

I know. I have people I can talk to.

[People know too much about him already.]

[It’s Clive’s turn to pause and consider. He isn’t entirely sure what happened to Jayce between the man he last saw on the network and the man he is talking to now, but whatever it was has clearly had an impact on the man. Frankly, Clive is worried]

Do you talk to them when you need help?

[Having people to talk to and actually talking to them are two very different things.]

Are you sure? Based on what you have said, you know that at least part of the life I have had to lead has not been an easy one.

[Called out, and he knows it. It really does take one to know one, doesn't it? But it's private. He can be... maybe a little up front.]

No. I don't. I should.

[Maybe it's easier because it's text. He can spend as much time as he needs between messages.]

I'm sure. I don't know any of the details- no one's said as much. But I know you're from Barnabas' world, and from what he's described, it's a dangerous and violent place.

[It seems the two of them have more in common than originally anticipated. Oddly enough, Clive doesn’t find it that strange. A man who puts himself out there to be helpful and protect people while working on improving himself in private, shouldering their burdens alone? Sounds familiar.]

Likewise. Maybe that is something we can work on together.

[Clive pauses, thinking about Barnabas, about his outlook, his quiet pain, and sighs. He wasn’t wrong, but Barnabas also wasn’t entirely right.]

It can be. There is also good there. Barnabas has lost faith in humanity. I’ve noticed he tends to see the worst in people. If you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them. I have some about your world, too. I’ve heard a bit about Zaun, but know nothing of Piltover.
