Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:

• Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
• When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya, or by other characters on behalf of their friends! This includes the Q&A section.
• Characters can either like or dislike others' CHIRPER profiles. These responses are public.
• This is voluntary on an OOC basis; if the character doesn't have a profile completed by themselves or anyone else, nothing shows up for them on CHIRPER.
• For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER profiles are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

This month there is a special 👻 SPOOKY SEASON 👻 addition: instead of ✓ or ✕ for like or dislike, it's 🎃 and 💀. Whatever the character has the most votes for shows up appended to their username on the network for the next month, as in, un: aurora 💀.

If your death here grants you enough time to create an entire Canvas, I am going to put just as much effort into finding a way to make sure you don't need it, beautiful though I am sure it would be.

I'm glad we're on the same page there.

How would a Painter go about trapping someone?

They overwrite your will and memories with their own and make you believe the Canvas is the world. For example, I could make you believe you had always been the wind caressing flowers, so you would not know to want to return to yourself. And so you would pass by the time as your body grows weaker outside until you fall.

Or there is always the more prosaic option of creating something so appealing that someone doesn't want to leave.

I see. It sounds like the ways a person can be trapped in a Canvas are only limited by the creativity of the Painter.

When a person's body dies, does the part of them that is still in the Canvas die as well?

Yes, unless you are the Painter of the Canvas in question. A part of one's soul is needed to make a Canvas, and it persists after the death of its creator.

If someone is in the Canvas when the Painter dies, do they get stuck there?

Not unless they were already trapped to begin with. A deceased Painter's Canvas can be entered and left at will provided it continues to exist.

Do you consider Painting a kind of magic?

I do not know. I've spoken to some people here, but I am uncertain how to classify our Gift.

I default to calling what I can do as magic. It makes it easier for people to understand. For what it's worth, I think what you can do is very magical.

You'd consider me magical if I were doing nothing but sleeping.

Mmm, you're not wrong. You do make the most mundane of tasks seem otherworldly.

Technically, everything I do is otherworldly. We're from different worlds.

Of course it does. It ascribes good qualities to me, so it counts.
