Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:

• Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
• When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya, or by other characters on behalf of their friends! This includes the Q&A section.
• Characters can either like or dislike others' CHIRPER profiles. These responses are public.
• This is voluntary on an OOC basis; if the character doesn't have a profile completed by themselves or anyone else, nothing shows up for them on CHIRPER.
• For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER profiles are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.

This month there is a special 👻 SPOOKY SEASON 👻 addition: instead of ✓ or ✕ for like or dislike, it's 🎃 and 💀. Whatever the character has the most votes for shows up appended to their username on the network for the next month, as in, un: aurora 💀.

[Sleipnir thinks a moment before replying.]

It is for the best man does not solve the question of immortality... However, the way you phrase things has me wondering if you were a willing participant in such an experiment...?

[It would be one thing to have to live with an unknown result of an experiment you chose, quite another entirely if it was forced. Sleipnir is aware of the vast cruelties of humanity and finds he would not be surprised if it was the latter.]

In a way, I am unique, but in another not overly so. Such immortality is a consequence of my creation.

[Creation, as he cannot claim he was born, nor conceived. Let the man with the velvety voice judge him, if he finds Sleipnir to be less than human than he will... likely find something to break. And have to contend with wondering if the other man will spread word of Sleipnir's masquerade.]

[ They are in agreement. It is best if men do not attain immortality. Especially one particular man who was at the head of many experiments. ]

I was not.

[ He was no willing participant. Although Vincent would have died without it, death may have been preferable to this existence. ]

Creation?

[ He'll allow Sleipnir to explain as much as he chooses to or not at all. There is no judgement in the question, however. How is Vincent to judge any person's humanity given what he is? ]

Then I am doubly glad this experiment is not likely to be replicated.

I was not born as most men are, human or bearer— that is to say, magic wielder or no. I was brought into existence through my Dominant's aether and the right, or rather wrong, circumstances.

[ To be created directly from aether is not entirely a foreign concept. There are products of the lifestream where he comes from. Maybe it's similar. ]

Is a dominant your master?

[ He can only guess based on the word. ]

And what circumstances are those?

[There's a little bit of silence, then finally:]

...Usually through traumatic tragedy. When the Dominant is rendered unable to defend themself, typically in concert with a great shock to the mind, the Dominant's Eikon will brute force utilizing some of their aether to make a construct, a being called an 'egi', protect their Dominant...Most people of my world assume egi to be lifeless puppets without minds of their own. I have not heard of any others who resemble humans as closely as I do.

I see. Then you are made to protect your liege.

[ Clearly, Sleipnir has a mind. Whether he's no puppet remains to be seen. Even those born and living can become puppets. ]

And your dominant is here, as well? I take it you cannot be separated?

Indeed I am and I do so relish my duties.

[Sleipnir is surprised at how much this stranger seems to be taking this in stride. Almost as if they could be talking about the weather. This makes it feel easier to talk about.]

His Majesty is here, yes, but I am not certain about the separation. I can exist without him near and at great distances, on separate continents, but across universes... This I cannot say. However, Echo saw fit to summon my liege [his voice tightens a little] one year before Echo brought me. My liege could not pull me to Etraya himself and I believe he did so try. I am from the same 'when' as him, but I did not feel the year's passage of time. This place works in such strange ways I am not used to.

[ Vincent isn't fazed by much after what he's experienced. Even the most horrific story might only get a mild bat of an eye from him. And Sleipnir's story is hardly horrific. ]

I see. It must pain you think of it. Him being here without you for so long.

It does. I had not known a time before this place where he was without me. Fifty years together and then to be suddenly alone... I do not like to think about it, but if it can occur once, it may happen again and I know not how to prevent such a thing from happening.

[Not that he expected this stranger to have any miracles up his sleeves.]

[ They have no control over such things, which includes what happens to them. That is evident enough to Vincent after what he suffered during the fog. ]
