You're consenting. At that point your clone should also have their own set of rights and ability to be independent in decisions, including deciding to remain with you or not.

Okay, but what if I raised my clone in exactly the same circumstances I was raised in, then it would basically be like an identical twin, right?

Realistically the difference in that case is negligible, but someone still decided on your clone being created versus the accident of combined gametes creating two people with the same genetic map, or the same person across universes. Again more of a concern for the grey area of your clone's rights as a person, less on how well you'd both get along as all but identical twins.

Sharks can reproduce asexually, and we still treat them like more sharks. So clones are just more people. Robots, however, are not people, and so I'm not going to treat them like clones. This is easy stuff.

Why the resistance to mechanical intelligences being people too? Not whatever answers your phone or an LLM, that's all nonsense.

Because if robots gain superhuman sentience, the first thing they'd collectively do is try to destroy and-or take over the human race? Everyone knows this.

Honestly why would they bother? Humans keep doing that to themselves. It's the number one thing we fight against.

Seriously? Because we'd still be collectively the biggest threat, and the sooner we're gone, the sooner they can control the planet and eventually, the galaxy. We're our own biggest enemy, but that doesn't mean an apex wouldn't recognize competition.

Counter question, why would they wait? Without a need for the constraints of biology, why not get off planet and into more interesting ventures humans are lagging behind in? That sort of thing. Not to trust anything would happen in either direction, but it just seems stupid to want to tackle one of the most violent species in planet of you could simply ship out.

Every species needs a home base, they'd need a place to build more of themselves before they could split up into different places in the stars.

Not into deciding whole groups of people aren't worth consideration before we have evidence of malevolence on their part. Historically, that always goes poorly. Not assuming good faith either. Just want that verified record of actions past and present to predict future possibilities.
