Concerning Antigone's warning regarding our real names, it occurs to me that we would benefit from collaborating on this front.

To that end, I wish to open discussion.

For those who have chosen a name, please respond with what you have selected, that we may know what to call you.

For those who have not, you may use this posting to discuss your ideas or invite suggestions from others.

As for myself, I shall be using "Lucien", the name of a character from a novel in my world.

I spent the evening crafting false names for our next outing. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered “Dumbass” already taken. I assumed, of course, you’d beaten me to it.

So what did you decide on? And is it twenty-six letters or less?

Twenty-six letters? How gauche. You wound me, truly. I settled on Scanlan Keylethus Pikegratia Taryon d’Shorthalt-Grogson. Has a certain poetry, don’t you think? Rolls right off the tongue once you’ve lost the will to live.

And for the record, I would never choose a name that invited comparison to you. Dumbass deserves its own legacy.

I’ll assume they’re offended in spirit. They’re terribly consistent that way, even in absence.

You, however, are here- and you’ve always been quite talented at being offended on everyone’s behalf. I may as well tack your name on the end, like a flourish of indignation to finish the piece.

And there it is. Music to my ears. I was beginning to think you’d gone soft. I’ll still have the plaque made though- “Consolidated Outrage,” in fine silver lettering. It will look perfect beside the one Vex keeps for me that says “Habitual Provoker.”

Then she’s far better prepared than the rest of us, as usual. I’ve seen the plaques she’s set aside for me alone. There’s “Percy’s Overthought Himself Into a Corner,” “Percy Built Something He Shouldn’t Have,” “Percy Insulted Someone Important,” and, of course, “Percy’s Been Kidnapped, But It’s Probably His Own Fault.”

She’ll run out of wall space before I run out of reasons to earn them.
