[ The video starts with a boy in a baseball cap, wearing a bright grin and lifting a hand in greeting. An I-come-in-peace kind of greeting. He's in his bedroom, sitting on his unmade bed and while his room isn't messy per se (he hasn't been here long enough to accumulate a mess), there are a few shirts haphazardly draped over the back of his headboard. ]

S'up, Etraya? The name's Junpei Iori! I'm pretty new here. Still getting the lay of the land and all, but uh...

[ He rubs the back of his neck, glancing past the camera for a moment. ]

My birthday's on the 16th. Which I guess is operation day? So I'm thinking of celebrating early. Anyone wanna maybe...hang?

[ God. That feels so pathetic. Like coming on here and pretty much announcing he's a friendless loser. Junpei quickly pivots: ]

Or I guess you could just give some recommendations of good places to check out and party it up? What place has the best food or where can a guy get a good cake...that kinda thing? Yeah, sure. I can probably go find somewhere on my own, but the best reviews are usually word of mouth!

[ Junpei shifts, palms planted on his knees as he leans forward. ]

Sooo, lay it on me, folks. Where would you spend your sweet seventeen in this place?

[He laughs, because he can practically hear Junpei salivating at the thought on the other end. Ah, maybe he's missed having an excuse to cook for people a little more than he thought without Claude and Eric around...]

Name's Oscar. And just enjoyin' it is repayment enough-- that's the whole point of cookin' for others in the first place. But if you wanted to hang, I'm not gonna say no to that either. The more the merrier, right?

[And this way Junpei doesn't actually have to admit that he's a friendless loser! Everyone wins!]

Haha, you get it! If people - includin' us - can't have a good time in them, then what're we even savin' the universes for?

[For a better future. For a future in which no one else needs to end up like him.]

Not even heroes are on the clock all the time. Might as well enjoy ourselves when we've got the chance.

You've never been campin' before?

[He can't say it's exactly a surprise; it's not like anyone who doesn't have to does it for fun in his world, not with demons and demon beasts running around. Oscar just assumes it's the same in other worlds too!]

Well, there's a first time for everything. I can definitely help you pick out a tent that's better than the ones I had to use during training, that's for sure. Nothin' that's gonna collapse on you in the middle of the night because you didn't get the poles set up right.

[Is he speaking from experience? Maybe.]

[Whoops. Oscar can't help but let out a laugh, though.]

Haha, only if you're usin' the kind of tent they give you in basic training. I think they hand those out expectin' everyone to set 'em up wrong the first few times. Trial by fire, as they say.

The stuff you can get around here is a lot nicer than that, so you should be spared the 'thinkin' you're bein' attacked by a ghost' experience.

Aquilegia military.

[He answers without missing a beat, even though he's not expecting Junpei to recognize the name.]

Wasn't always a part of the main army, though. I'm still gettin' used to that part... and the 'havin' to do a ton of paperwork' part.

[Like, who joins the army to do paperwork???]

I'd much rather be out in the field helpin' keep people safe.

Oh, there'll definitely be somethin' dangerous out there. Always is. It just depends on what kind of dangerous we're talkin' about.

[But now that the topic has been brought up...]

Y'know how to fight? If not, we don't have that much time, but I could teach you a few things. Enough for you to be able to keep yourself safe, if nothin' else.

[Oscar's smile grows just the slightest bit wider when Junpei makes his comment about living up to the big bro energy, though he says nothing on that front and chooses instead to address:]

Haha... you're a swordsman too, huh? Soon as you find yourself a sword, we'll have to spar. I'd offer to loan you mine for the mission, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be much use to you.

[Since it's probably almost as long as Junpei is tall...]

I can teach you some basic martial arts, though. You don't need any weapons or powers to use those, and when you're on the battlefield, the more tricks you've got up your sleeve, the better.

[Says the man who got yelled at for attacking a gun user with his fists... in his defense, it worked!]

And you wouldn't owe me anything for that, other than making sure you keep yourself in one piece. Deal?

[There's a brief flash of something that crosses Oscar's eyes at the comment of a sword being the most comfortable, but it's gone almost as soon as it appeared, leaving him to let out a laugh at the bow and the exaggerated form of address.]

I can make do with what I've got in a pinch, but you wouldn't be wrong on that front. I've gotten used to this sword, so even if I did find another one, it'd take me a little while to get a feel for it.

[Then, because he can't help but tease a little bit:]

Besides, I'm not sure you could lift mine even if you tried.
