[In the video call, Cloud is standing in the chocobo corral on the ranch beside a pallet filled with soft hay and chocobo eggs. In the background - and occasionally coming up to nibble on Cloud's hair or peek into the camera - chocobos of every age from adult to chick to gawky juvenile and many colors and subspecies wander around doing their chocobo things. Are those ones in the corner dancing? Sure looks like it.

Anyway.

Cloud picks up an egg and looks at the camera.]

Cloud here, at the chocobo ranch. It's egg season and uh, the birds have been real busy. Plus, we've been taking in some eggs out in the wild that ended up abandoned for one reason or another.

To cut to the chase, we got a ton of chocobo eggs and I'd have to get the bots to build a whole new set of stables to raise 'em all myself. So if you want an egg or five, head over here. We even had a black chocobo hatch the other day, they're pretty rare. No idea which kinds are gonna hatch from where, so...hope you're feeling lucky?

My green chocobos are currently brooding their nest so it's... good to know it's happening all over????

You're going to want a good supply of chocobo greens and maybe some nuts. I think their feed is similar to the kind chickens eat, but you'll need a lot more of it. Riding gear's different, too, if you want them as mounts.

Yeah, it's that time of year. Back home, some villages would hold egg festivals and stuff like that. Chocobos are pretty prolific.

[And loud about it. Ask him how much sleep he's gotten lately. Though, to be fair, that's not only the chocobos' fault. He's been pulling double duty helping the bots run the damn city during his off hours. Finch told him he didn't have to, but screw that. It's because of him and his failure that Aurora had to shut down. He's not going to sit idle and let other people handle it for him.]

Chocobos aren't any kind of chickens. Totally different bird. But as far as I know, they grow at roughly the same rate, maybe a little faster, as long as they're getting the right amount of food and nutrients. It's just a lot more for a chocobo because they're so much bigger.

Fortunately, chocobos LOVE to eat. The challenge is making them stop.

For the adults, three. The younger ones, more like four or five, they metabolize like crazy. Racing chocobos eat more often, but smaller meals.

I guess if the mama and baby dragon are possibly their main predators, it's good they can replenish their numbers

[are there any other predators... oh, Dwayne, maybe? But no, in terms of animals...she can't think of any that she's seen, informally tracking the different clusters of wild chocobos around Etraya.

Luckily, Ochreward is just a walk along the trolleytracks from Mollymarlin. Mayuko walks up to the ranch, and as she said, two juvenile browns (one of them looking more blue-green by the day) are beelining to her. She gives them pats as she surveys the scene.]
