I talked with the other bubble city.

[Perhaps you've noticed a construction of floodlights and neon signs, removed from their original locations and plugged in one of Etraya's darker areas. Maybe you noticed it go on and off at night, flashing morse code. Maybe you even noticed that the other city in the sky was signaling back.]

Their oldest resident has been around for six years. They were told they're here for the same reason we are, to save their universe. They don't know if anyone succeeded yet - people disappear sometimes, but no one knows what it means. They said they have "roles" that need fulfilling, and disappearances make it hard to find replacements.

Their "missions" sound more complex then what we've have had so far and could last for two months.

And they battled each other as well as other bubble cities.

I haven't told them anything about us, except that we've been here for a few months. I'm not sure what to do with this information or what else to ask, but I think everyone here deserves to know what might wait for us.

Thanks. Though someone made a good point, that telling them we're new already reveals a vulnerability.

While that is true, they may have discerned as much regardless. They have years of knowledge to draw on, where comparatively we have little.

That's for sure, but it sounds like they're as clueless as us when it comes to the important stuff. 6 years and they still don't have the full picture from Echo.

That's...more than a little concerning, I must admit. How long should proving oneself actually take?

Who knows? We don't even know how long Echo's been "testing" people in general.

Nor can we be certain whether it's only Echo.

Where I come from, Astral scientists from another realm once decided to study mortals. Many only knew of whichever was local to their region, if even that, but they were numerous.

There's a different between scientists and wannabe gods.

Come to think of it, do we know Echo is a single person and not a group?

I can assure you, they were essentially both. Toying with existing life, creating more to control, subjugate, and experiment on... This was the form their research took.

So far as I know, we've no way to be certain of what Echo truly is.

People like this are the worst. Did they claim they have a "right" to do that, too?

You're right. They naturally felt entitled as "superior beings".
