[Her hair is in two messy twin braids. Her eyes are glassy. The sharp-eyed might notice she's probably, definitely drunk. The less-so might just assume she's overly tired. Her tongue presses into her cheek as she considers how to start this one, but in the end she just rips the bandaid off quickly: ]
So, tell me, how is it that you handle grief?
[She probably won't be elaborating on why she's asking, unless she has a certain level of familiarity with you, but you can try. People closest to her probably already know what this is really about: Her sister is gone. From Moorecroft. From Etraya. From the top side of the dirt. Gone and back to dead, and Yelena is spiraling.]

Agreed. I do love a good dance session, too.

Especially if it means we can help everyone get their groove on.

It'd help, too, if I'm gonna' seriously consider this musician business again...

Oh? Colour me intrigued.
[Anything to stop thinking about the actual point of her post, honestly.]

[ Rosie gets that, honestly, and is kind of... why she was steering the conversation that way.
Avoidance is tried and true for her, at least. While she knows that Yelena will eventually have to address some of it, well- Why not think of something else for a bit? ]
Oh, well- I was a roadie for a while, but gave it up to settle down somewhere for my last job before here. I never quite made it as musician myself even though that the was goal, so... Someone said I should try again while here. That's all!

[There's no judgment in her voice at all; she's just trying to make her assumptions line up with the picture Rosie is painting, here. ]

Groupies are who you're thinking of for that. They're there to, like, build up the band member's egos, sing their praises, and are mostly around to try and get into their pants.
Roadies are people who travel with bands too, yeah, but to set up stage and make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. It's actually pretty frowned upon to be a roadie involved with any of the band since it's a working relationship even if more casual than professional sometimes. I can't say the lines never get crossed between roadie and groupie, but-! I was always just a roadie myself.

But I don't want to stroke anyone's ego, that sounds terrible. Your thing sounds more fun than the other one, if I am honest.

But- Yeah, agreed. I did think the musicians were talented and enjoyed working with them, but that's always where it ended for me. Also because I wanted to be one eventually and, well, couldn't risk my reputation like that anyway.

Did doing that get you some sort of... I don't know, connections in your industry, at least?
no subject
It did, for a time, but once you aren't active in it anymore... People tend to forget, I guess. It's a pretty fast-paced kind of career, music.
