hiiii everyone! you can call me dazai.
since we're all supposed to work together and get to know each other, i thought it would be fun to play a little icebreaker game that's popular on my earth ♥
it's called would you rather! the rules are pretty simple:
✦ post a hypothetical between two difficult choices
✦ have others choose between them, and offer their own hypotheticals in return
✦ go back and forth until you don't feel like playing anymore
noooormally, it'd be cheating to say something like both, or neither, but if you can come up with a really interesting alternative, i'll allow it~
feel free to respond to each other, as well! can't just let me go having all the fun, after all.
here's a few to get us started:
1) would you rather hurt someone to protect yourself, or get hurt protecting someone else?
2) would you rather be unable to have your favorite meal again, or be unable to get drunk again?
3) would you rather betray your boss or abandon your best friend?
[wdym these are weird questions, he's so normal. it's just a gaaaaame and definitely not a covert means of information gathering or anything. come on and play :)]

it's fine, life is lifing
Goodness, no. But, you are correct. Duty is something I feel that more people should prioritize. We all have a role to play, and a duty to society to fulfill that duty so we can best support one another in whatever challenges come our way.
People don't live as islands, you know.
[But on the other side of the screen, he was preening at being understood so quickly. He was never one to lie about what he was about, but in his youth he had struggled to make himself understood in his immaturity. ]
I am perfectly happy without the influence of wine and spirit as long as I have my bergamot tea.
Beg pardon. I believe many here know it as Earl Gray.
Surely the bottle isn't worth drastic measures? Unless you enjoy being sloppy.
no subject
He almost wonders if this person wears glasses.]
so you're saying then that you're a private citizen who takes it upon himself to ensure everyone's safety and well-being are protected?
my, my, that's quite the cross to bear. i think my hair would turn white from the stress!
[Humans are social animals, yes, but if he were asked to bet literally every single cent he ever made in the mafia with interest right now, he would put all of it on this guy being the sort who burns himself out taking on the mantle of the world's griefs and struggles and suffers for both his inability to solve it all and the fact that others choose to perpetuate such ills, for their own reasons.
He thinks of Kunikida screaming in despair when two lives were extinguished at the end of the Azure Messenger incident, two people who had suffered for no reason beyond another's notion of justice. He thinks of Fyodor planning to break Kunikida's spirit first, when he released that virus, because his heart was the one that bled most with righteousness. To live is to suffer, but men like Kunikida, like this person exist in a specific sort of hell of their own making -- unable to accept the world as it is, in all its ugliness, constantly burning with the agony of seeing the world as it "should be", in their eyes.
Dazai works to make the world a little more beautiful every day, in Odasaku's memory. Yet, he understands that a more beautiful landfill is still a landfill. You can't transform a landfill into an oasis by sheer force of will, no matter how strong it is. The effort will only make you go mad.]
i happen to think it's very important to take the time to be sloppy once in a while, actually!
life is too exhausting to take seriously every waking moment ♥
