How familiar are people with the multiverse?

I'm only familiar in the sense of the various planes of existence that exist in parallel to and above/below the prime material plane.

I'm afraid that this level of multiverse is a bit beyond my experience. However I'm quite interested in also learning whatever anyone has to share.

Can you go in a bit more detail about what a parallel plane may entail?

Well, the planes that are parallel to the prime material plane are the ethereal plane and the astral plane.

The ethereal plane is sort of like a layer of plastic wrap that sits on top of the prime material plane. You can see everything, but you can't touch it. When you're in the ethereal plane, you're also invisible to anyone in the material plane.

The astral plane is more of a barren void of other-dimensional nothingness extending in all directions. Some wizards use the astral plane as a meeting place, as traveling there via spell is faster than traveling across Spyre in real time.

So magical planes that coexist with one prime level plane.

Yes, precisely. And then there are the upper and lower planes, which mostly function as afterlives for mortals, or homes for celestials and fiends, respectively.

[anewhope]

I think we possess similar literature, though it's never been confirmed.

I assume you have confirmation of yours?

[furiousfists]

Yes; I have never been to the upper planes, but I have been to the Nine Hells myself, and I've spent a considerable amount of time in both the ethereal and astral planes.

What was it like?

The nicer ones.

I imagine Hell isn't a great first topic of conversation.

Maybe not... My friend's dad is there, though, and he's not so bad.

[ Technically Fig's dad is also from the Nine Hells, but Gorthalax lives in Elmville now, so it hardly counts, in Adaine's mind. ]

The ethereal plane is a little... I guess "cold" would be the right world? It's fine for avoiding getting hit in battle in short spurts, but I wouldn't want to spend any prolonged length of time there.

I like the astral plane much better, considering that most of the parts of it that I've visited have been populated primarily by like-minded wizards like myself.

I'm glad to hear there were some pleasant experiences involved.

As a wizard, could you access them at any time?

If I had the appropriate spells prepared, I could.

I probably will want to learn more about how this place functions before trying it here, though. I don't want to accidentally strand myself in a corrupted version of the ethereal plane.

Really? I'm only just a student, though. There are much more accomplished wizards in Spyre who could perhaps have been a better representative than me.

So I'd say that's an accomplishment in its own right.

Are you new here as well? Is that the reason for asking about multiverse familiarity?

I thought it'd be a good place to learn what other people thought of the multiverse.

It's not a bad plan. Information gathering is an important part of any mission.

[anewhope]

For me, it's more of a general thing. Any information could be pertinent. I just want to be too caught off my guard.

So, you try to be as informed as possible in all aspects of your life? Multidimensional kidnapping or no?
