The piece in question is meant to soothe the mind, the body and soul, allowing for healing and restful sleep. But it's also rather sad; he isn't the sort of man that can play bright, happy songs, especially since he noticed one of his friends is missing.

Yeah, I get the feeling that our art, music, and poetry isn't exactly the same as what you've got going on in your world.

For example: where do you guys stand on tattoos?

Tattoos usually have great meaning, attaching someone to a specific tribe or community. Is that what you mean?

Do you know about China? [Even the name for his country is odd to him. He's that old.]

Here, in my world, tattoos don't mean a goddamn thing.

( he rolls up the sleeves of his comfy, ugly sweater to show the tattoos on his arms. they're cool, not totally pointless — one's a bird, the other is a wolf — but they don't have the communal aspect that this person is familiar with. )

They just sorta... look cool.

Ah a bird...and a wolf? Birds have a great variety of meaning in my world. Wolves are a sign of danger.
