It's cold and people are looking for company. No one wants to suffer in a new world alone. {He seems amused, fanning himself and lounging as if he doesn't have a care in the world.}

I suggest when you're looking for a mate, take a good look at their shoulder-blades. Of course the one who has the loveliest shoulder-blades is already spoken for, but I encourage you to find second and third place. I think it's a worthwhile endeavor!

It should still be considered! Who could hate a lovely back and strong shoulders?

{His eyebrows shoot up and he hurries forward.}

Are you in our rooms? I'm coming, A-Xu!

[ So very true. He resists the grin as much as possible, knowing he fails. ]

I’ll be there in a few minutes.

[ He’s been making sure there aren’t people stuck outside! ]

{He practically runs to their rooms and makes sure everything is nice and cozy.}

Hurry, hurry or I'll come get you! {He even warms them up some tea and taps his foot impatiently, looking at the door.}

[ Chuckling to himself, Zishu makes sure to take a liiiiittle extra time to reach their rooms. When he opens their door, he schools his face into one of innocent amusement, raising a brow and widening his eyes just a little, and closes the door behind himself. ]

I thought you were further away than this. So eager.

{He begins to fidget and straighten everything, making the room spotless and perfect. ~~And he had called A-Xu the wife!~~ Well, traditions be damned! He just wants Zishu to come home.

When the other man finally arrives, he crosses his arms over his chest and purses his lips.}

You said you needed me. Why wouldn't I hurry?

[ Such a diligent wife! Zishu knows how lucky he is to have run into Kexing again.

His gaze softens and he immediately goes to his love, head tilting back just a little to look at him. ]

Ah. Then I am sorry for making you wait. How can I make it up to you?

{His heart melts at that head tilt and his entire expression changes, warming, brightening. He bends down and kisses his A-Xu before saying a single word more.}

Drink your tea and get in bed. I know just how to warm you.

[ His heart flutters at how that handsome face warms. And that kiss! He leans into it, humming as he responds to that warmth. A quiet chuckle escapes at the answer and he nudges their noses together before pulling away to obediently pick up his cup of tea. Not bothering to check for poison or anything unsavory (his trust in his Lao Wen is complete), he drains it without looking away from Kexing.

Then heads for their bed, removing his boots and outer robe without needing prompting. ]

{Poison! He might be a ghost, but he isn't a monster. Not towards his A-Xu anyway. The tea is perfectly steeped and given just a hint of sweetness. The herbs he used for it are all of the healing variety with a few aimed towards relaxation thrown in.}

Mm what were you doing out in the cold? {He strips down, taking off his boots and slipping into bed beside his soulmate. His arms curl around Zishu and he pulls him close.}

[ He recognizes the concoction and it makes him smile slightly, understanding the fussing and care behind it.

Stretching out on the bed, he waits for Kexing to join him before shifting close and settling in those warm arms. This man’s embrace, he’s discovered, ensures a good night’s sleep. ]

Making sure no one was trapped outside.

{Kexing kisses Zishu's ear and tuts over the chilled skin. That won't do! He wraps himself around his A-Xu and grabs the blankets, making sure they are nice and tucked in.}

Don't worry about them. This place is harsh and if you don't look after yourself, you could get lost or sick too!

{And that is unforgivable.}

Of course I would find you and heal you.

[ He burrows shamelessly into Kexing’s warmth, nose pressing to his love’s throat and breathes in with a happy little hum as he relaxes. A smile tugs at his lips at the fussing as Kexing scolds him to look after himself. ]

They don’t have your protection like I do.

{Just right. Good. Kexing rubs over Zishu's back and searches for all the chilly places. They will be warmed! That is his promise!}

Must you always be heroic? {He raises Zishu's hands and puffs his breath over them.} Your poor fingers!

[ His eyes close as he’s warmed by those touches. This soulmate of his spoils him. Utterly. His grin presses to Kexing’s neck at the extra scold and his eyes open to peer into his soulmate’s eyes as his hands are dutifully warmed. ]

Must you be so? Philosopher Wen?

{Each perfect finger is kissed and nuzzled before he dares to kiss Zishu's lips. Then he tucks his soulmate right back where he belongs - against him - and closes his eyes.}

Yes. That is my nature. A philosopher. A philanthropist.

[ He chuckles softly and kisses back before snuggling right back into place. Zishu slips his hands impishly under Kexing’s tunic to stroke over warm skin as he warms up a little more. ]

Ah. Good.

[ His eyes also close as he’s gets comfortable again. ]

{He wiggles just so and causes Zishu's hands to slip deeper under his tunic. His warm skin belongs to his A-Xu, so he wants him to enjoy it.}

Those titles pale in comparison to my reason for existing.

[ He grins at the cute wiggling and shamelessly lets his hands wander, gently exploring his beloved’s gorgeous body again.

But those words! His heart melts all over again and he nudges their noses gently together. ]

Lao Wen.

[ ’Mine,’ isn’t said aloud, but the intent is there. ]

{It's his turn to melt and he hums his approval, running his fingers through Zishu's soft hair. He grins at the sweet nudge and tilts his head, bringing their lips together for a slow, warm kiss.}

A-Xu is my other half, my reason for being born.

[ He loves when this man plays with his hair. It makes him hum again and press somehow even closer as he happily leans into the sweet kiss. His hands slide up, bringing Kexing’s tunic up as he strokes over his soulmate’s shoulder blades, a little grin on his lips as he seems to playfully consider those delicate butterfly bones.

Ah but those words! ]

You’re being ridiculous. [ But his tone is warm rather than scolding. ]

{He flexes so those shoulder-blades are more visible, smiling flirtatiously. Aren't his handsome too? Does his A-Xu finally understand why he loves strong, beautiful backs so much?}

I was given to you, wasn't I?

{His eyes sparkle merrily.}

A-Xu understood me immediately.

[ He grins at the flirtatious flexing and kisses that smile again. ]

Peacock.

Yes, you were. And I have been given to you.

[ He tangles their legs together. ]

You always saw past my mask.

{He leans into the contact and sighs happily.}

I thought about you even after I drank the water. I wondered if you were real.

{His smile widens, giddy and sweet.}

I told myself I was following you because you were a useful piece in me getting revenge...

But the truth is, I couldn't stop looking at you.

[ Another feather-light kiss just because! He can’t resist this man! ]

I’m here. I’m real. You saved me, my Lao Wen. Even when I didn’t want to be saved.

[ That sweet smile must be kissed too! This time warmly, love clear in how he lingers. ]

I would help you with your revenge too.

{Don't resist him! Kexing is under the spell of Zishu's kisses, his hand stroking over his beloved's side.}

You just didn't have anyone to love you. You thought everyone had passed.

{He deepens the kiss and rubs their legs together under the covers.}

Mmm I know. But I wanted to do it myself. Seeing it done frees me to focus entirely on you.
