I asked Aurora to let the TVs work in the rec room of the apartment building, but all that is playing is old black and white movies
[ because that is what wanda asked for, sort of, but every channel is playing a different movie, all of them black and white. ]
From Earth
[ since that is a consideration now. ]

( kate reached out to him, so he's not going to magic his way over because he's sure that'd startle her at least a little. so he magics his way--closeish but not quite there, and walks into the rec room instead, wearing normal people clothes, not his wiccan gear.
and raises a hand in a small wave with a smile. )
Hey.

[ wanda is also wearing normal people clothes, jeans and a sweater, long hair gathered over one shoulder. she's sitting cross-legged on the couch and smiles automatically when billy comes inside, albeit a small, fleeting smile. ]
Have you seen the Thin Man?
no subject
( this can be a normal people thing they do. wanda looks. . . similar but not even close to the same, but he can still feel her magic, feel the chaos. knows it's her despite the physical differences. it's not the first alternate universe version of someone he knows that he's come across. it doesn't make it any less awkward.
but he sits down on the couch, not too close but closeish. )
Did it already start, or are we going from the beginning?
no subject
[ she points out the window so he'll turn his head and flicks her hand at the tv so it rewinds to the start, the mgm logo coming on to the screen.
she's not subtle at all. ]
Must have been a bird.

Wanda, I know who you are. You don't have to hide it. ( with a raise of his hand, and a flick of his own fingers. there's a blue spark that encircles them, before the show on the tv pauses. )
no subject
her lips purse, fingers twitching to press to her mouth in a nervous habit.
there's a lot of clues she was trying to overlook because she sees her boys in everything. but the blue spark, the swoop of his hair, his big brown baby cow eyes. also kate literally told wanda that billy was here, so it doesn't feel like she's reaching very far, but she can't ask. he's not her billy.
instead she reaches out, a red spark darting out when their hands are a few inches apart, circling around the blue spark like a planet in orbit. ]
Another me?
no subject
an older magic, one without the same rules that most magic follows. wanda reaches out, and billy lets his hand lay flat against hers, palm-to-palm. offers her a hesitant little smile as red sparks against blue. )
Another you did make me, but that gets into a very complicated story that'd take me forever to explain. Really. You'll just have to trust me on that bit.
( and with a softer spark of magic, that same blue drifts down her wrist; there's no intention, it's just straight power. )
I'm Billy.

You're all grown up.
[ despite her efforts there is no stopping the tears, welling up and spilling over her eyelashes without a sound beyond her staccato breaths. he's not her billy, she never tucked him in or made him chocolate chip pancakes or forced tommy to make bily tag along when he zipped off. but he is billy, his magic feels the same, and she's so desperate to have her babies back— she swallows back the emotion, she can't put all that on him. she's not his mom. ]
You and Tommy were just ten.
no subject
billy had talked to kate about wanda, earlier. knows that it's - different for her. she says you were just ten and billy imagines what it might have been like, if he had been raised by wanda alongside tommy. billy looks over his shoulder for a moment, before he's reaching forward with his free hand and wrapping it around her shoulders. holds onto her gently while she cries, because he's pretty sure she needs it: the support, having someone to lean on for a moment. )
I. . . I guess? I'm eighteen. So's Tommy, obviously.
( he's trying to offer some support. he could get into the whole, he wasn't raised by wanda thing, but she's already having a hard enough time as-is. he'd rather give her a moment first. )
I'm sorry, I know this is probably hard to process.
no subject
wanda desperately tries to claw her emotions back under control, the last time grief overwhelmed her it exploded out of her and made westview. remade vision, made the twins. she hasn't even been here for a week, she can't turn the city into another westview.
billy hugs her and she gives a little nod, composing herself somewhat. ]
It's... you don't need to apologize. I'm okay. Kate told me some things.
[ chiefly that pietro is still alive for them. ]
no subject
I know, but it's still--a lot. You're used to a ten-year-old kid and I'm--well, I'm obviously not that.
no subject
[ it's a swipe at levity and she attempts at a laugh but it doesn't fully land. maybe if there had been some time between westview and etraya it would be less of a gut punch, but at the same time... maybe it was always bound to be painful, all things considered.
she breathes in and out again, tries to grab something to talk about that won't make her want to throw up, something with a little distance. ]
How did you meet, you and Kate?
no subject
( a much easier topic. kate is always pleasant to talk about. or usually. and he can discuss this a lot easier than he can talk about - his existence. no need for a crisis today, right? )
I'd kind of gotten recruited onto a superhero team, called the Young Avengers. I'd just figured out I had. . . abilities. Didn't really know the extent of them at the time, it took a bit to figure out it was more reality warping than anything else. Anyway. Kate was a bridesmaid at a wedding that was being held up. My team and I bust in to help, but she ended up saving our asses while wearing what was definitely an uncomfortable dress. She decided she'd join us, and she's very, very hard to say no to.
no subject
She seems like a force of nature. It was Clint who recruited me.
[ it was steve who brought her and pietro in but it was clint who told her she was an avenger so she will allow him all the credit. ]
no subject
( but he says it with a fondness behind his tone, because billy - well. kate's his best friend, he loves her. she's great. )
Strong, determined, brave - Kate may not have any superpowers or like.. superpowered suits or anything, but she's never needed them. Being Kate is enough for her.
no subject
Some people don't need all this. [ her hand wobbles, more red energy spills out and sinks to the floor like a heavy fog. ]
Who else is on your team?
no subject
( they're not exactly a team. they'd been brought together due to extenuating circumstances, less because they'd wanted to work together. billy had been done with the hero business, but things change. )
Noh-Varr, David, America, Loki, and Teddy. Or uh - Marvel Boy, Prodigy, still America, still Loki, and Hulkling.
no subject
instead she scrambles to focus on something else: ] Hulkling?
no subject
( they've tried changing it, but couldn't think of anything else to suit. teddy's just stuck being hulkling forever, as is his lot in life. )
no subject
whoops? ]
Well... green is a nice color.
[ vision is red sometimes so it's not like she is out here discriminating.
was.
vision was red sometimes. ]
no subject
( with a sigh that says way more than billy's words do. teddy looks great in green. and great in green with his purple tank. and great without the tank at all. except teddy isn't his, not right now, but according to kate it might not be that way forever? it's Complicated. )
