I can't say I celebrate mine, but I do notice them as they happen.

[ Henry feels the same kind of stumped in how to reply. His eyes roll up and he stares at the ceiling. An idea of saying: "That's nice." Sounds sarcastic to him. He doesn't mean for it to, however. Maybe he'll understand that it's a nice statement. It's nice when someone doesn't lose years; he certainly thinks he should be more concerned that he's in his twenties and years just have passed without him paying attention.
Actually, when is his birthday? Hm. ... uh oh. No, he's NOT going to dissociate and wonder why he can't remember these things. It's fine, actually. Much like worrying about when he bought his shoes and if they are even his shoes. No, there's no reason to go down that rabbit hole. ]
You're the head wizard of the library, right?
[ If you can't think of how to respond to something or responding further to what you do or don't remember might make things more awkward, the best thing to do is just change topics. ]
no subject
By no means. I'm not a wizard and I'm not head of anything. The library did come from my home world, however.

[ Yeah -- he feels like he made a social faux pas. He should probably just end the conversation as to not bother Harold anymore.
No, no -- he wants to try to keep talking to people and trying to connect with them. If he immediately tries to leave as soon as he feels he's made a mistake, he's never going to get anywhere. ]
Sorry. But anyway, I was thinking of visiting.
no subject
You're more than welcome. The library is a public space. Just return anything you take out, please.
no subject
[ Ah, right. Heather said that Harold might be able to help him. ]
I'm trying to find a hobby. Do you have any suggestions?
[ Normally, he would just buy VHS of whatever hobby he was curious about and watch it, but never actually participate in the hobby itself. He realizes that is an odd thing to do, but -- well, he doesn't have a but to add. He bought car magazines without owning a car or having a deep interest in cars, but saw others interested in them. ]

I was planning to set up an art exhibition room in the library. Ms. Maria is going to make something for it; perhaps you could as well.
no subject
Well, it is nice that he's being offered to make something. What should he make? Well, he can't ask that question. He'll figure something out. ]
Yeah. I'm sure Maria will make something great for it.
I will make something.
[ Oh. He could use some of the photographs he took. Maybe try to take something that would be nice in an art exhibition. Phew. He's glad he remembered he had that skill otherwise he might have tried to paint for the first time. Terrible thought. ]
no subject
He's well aware this is also a public conversation and Maria herself could be reading it, but he's hardly doing anything illicit. Just setting up two friends to do an activity together. Harold thinks that's a rather heartwarming thing to orchestrate. ]
I think she would appreciate any ideas you have, as it's her first time doing something artistic.

Although, some of the photographs I took before feel haunted. Looking at them started to give me a headache and feeling like there's something sinister in what was captured. But it's none of the ones that are here. So, I think the haunting sensation is just meant for my world.[ Deleted. ][ Henry rereads what he wrote and thinks that sounds bad. Or it sounds stupid. It definitely sounds stupid. ]
I'm sure it will end up fine.
[ Is that better? ]
no subject
I look forward to seeing what you come up with, Mr. Townshend.
no subject
[ Sure, it was his profession and all, but -- he would feel bad if he let this person down. ]
no subject
[ That question mark is doing a lot of work in communicating right now. ]

You don't have to be polite like that with me, Mister Harold Finch. I feel more relieved in knowing you have no expectations. Thank you.
[ His anxiety at possibly giving some terrible shot piece that he thinks is good to someone that is well-thought of by Maria and Heather eases. But he sees why they like him - he really is a nice man. ]
no subject
Rest assured I'm polite as a personal preference. And 'Mr. Finch' is fine.
no subject
But if I annoy you, would you still be polite?[ That's a weird question to ask about a fond acquaintance of other people.
He rubs the back of his neck; it's sweaty. He lets out a small sigh. He does better in text because he's able to read what he wrote but it's only slightly better than when he's talking to a person face-to-face. ]
You can call me "Henry."
no subject
I'll continue to call you Mr. Townshend, if you don't mind.
[ Usually Harold just ignores instructions to use people's first names and goes about continuing to address them as he likes. Henry gets a minor concession here in terms of Harold trying to be more direct than normal, though he's still couching it in polite terms. ]

[ Very few people refer to him as "Mister Townshend." He supposes he was called that in school. But his memories are starting to get a little fuzzy. His past is slowly becoming obscured with the horror of the present and the dream-like existence that he's been in. Even being in Etraya, he still feels not quite connected to the world. But at least he's not having nightmares and ghosts aren't pushing notes under his door. Or coming through walls. Or reaching into his chest. Or making his head bleed. He wonders if that had real negative effects on him. ]
In your library, do you have books about the damages that ghosts can do to you? I'm a little worried about my head.
no subject
[ He's not going to disbelieve him given everything else happening in Etraya, but please, he needs to know more. ]

I get away from them and feel better, though, and the bleeding stops.
But I think it might not be good for my health.
