I am just glad we're not on a dangerous mission this time.

I'm not sure how people choose presents.
There are so many options, I don't know where to start...

That would be really stressful, yeah.

It depends on the person, actually. For people I don't really know, I tend to choose presents based on something they might use, or food that's popular. If I know the person really well, then I give them something from the heart - something that reminds me of them, or something I know they've been wanting for a long time.

That's why I asked if there was something you wanted, even though I don't know you yet. Gifts like that are how you get to know someone.

[ He's suitably charmed by the note that he finds upon his door. Yet, he thinks he'll leave the celebrating to others this time. It isn't as though he's afraid to ruin it or anything (though maybe he is, a little), celebrations of one's birth and the joys of aging are both concepts lost on him these days.

Laura will get a gift though of an energy drink. Well, close enough- He happened to have a can of Ebony tucked away for safekeeping. (He forgot about it until now.) A small note is attached that simply reads: "Have an extra piece of cake for me and wash it down with this."

Perhaps he shouldn't give a twelve year old coffee or encourage her having more sugar on top of it. But hopefully, that will be someone else's problem. ]
