[He's not used anything like this before. But Vivi decides to give it a try. It seems like it would be important to learn how to do this, to talk to everyone, after all. He just added it to the list of things he is learning and is new to figuring out. Which is a rather long one, given he is only technically a few months old, but still. There's initially something akin to the dark sky, and two blinking....wait, eyes? Before the young mage shifts and tries to adjust things a little as he straightens his large hat.]

Is it....it's working? I think. Um. Hello? My name is Vivi. I'm new here, I guess? I'm still figuring this place out. I don't know if anyone has seen my friends, whether they are around here somewhere?

[Cue him holding up a drawing he did. Vivi isn't sure if it might help. But it can't hurt? He won't know unless he tries to ask? Right? He tilts his head, lowering it for a moment as he puts down the drawing and fidgets a little.]

I was told we were here to prove something. To save our home. But I'm not sure if I should be the one who was chosen. I'm not as brave as Zidane. I'm not important like Gar -- Dagger. There's lots of other black mages. So I'm not sure why me, out of everyone...?

[He's not sure if being here might somehow impact things. His short lifespan, and however long he might have left. Aware that because they had stopped the Mist, there was likely no way to create any more black mages. At least that he was aware of. He's sure that there were plenty of other, better options to bring to prove that their world was deserving enough to be saved. But he tries to shake that train of thought.]

This place is pretty amazing, though. There's so many things here that I haven't seen or done before! It's kind of exciting! Even if it is a little scary, too.


[But at least, regardless of what happens to him, he knows the others are alright. Hopes that Zidane is. Vivi isn't sure what else to say, exactly, so he pauses after a moment before fumbling to turn the feed off.]

I guess that's good? Right? I mean. For people to get to know each other and be able to work together. If we want to save our home.

[Not that he has any idea about camps. Or....well. A lot of things, really. But still. Vivi is trying his best to remember to just make the most of it. To try and be positive. He doesn't anticipate there being any issues on his end, being against working with everyone else. Moreover, he just hopes that his appearance won't be a problem. But so far things have been fine?]

That is true. Missions tend to require cooperative efforts.

[ To that end, becoming familiar with one another in advance saves them difficulties they might otherwise need to muddle through. Missions provide challenge enough as it stands, in his view. ]

[ornitiers]

I'll do my best to help! But I guess, hopefully, I'll have a little time, some chance to get used to things here and get to know people first.

[He isn't sure quite how often these missions come about. He's still figuring everything out quite yet, but Vivi is doing his best to learn. To ask and make note of any advice or information that seems new to him. It's just kind of a lot. Especially alone.]

I believe you will. We are notified of missions in advance, and some consideration has been spared toward letting people recover from more demanding forays.

[ As a career soldier, Dion couldn't say that he required or was even at ease with so much time on his hands, but he would always consider the needs of others. Not everyone is like him, and he believes that is for the better. ]

Alright. That's good. So we get some time to....mm, prepare. Make sure we're ready and know what we're supposed to do to help.

[He's still kind of nervous. But that won't stop him from trying to help out. It's good that if there are more dangerous missions that they might get more time in between to be able to recover, if anyone might be hurt, or the like. Even if he was used to magic being able to support in that healing process, that didn't mean that anyone here might be able to do something like that.]

Yes. If the pattern remains as I have observed, we should not be caught off guard.

[ Which allows them to ready themselves for whatever they may face in the future. ]

Good. But ah, so this isn't just to talk to everyone? I haven't used this sort of thing before, so I guess I'm still figuring it out.

[Vivi will get there. He just might need a bit to figure the phones out properly. But he should hopefully pick up on it quickly enough. He just has not had a lot of time yet to sit down with it, to really play with it and settle in quite just yet.]

You can both talk to everyone and direct a message to an individual. We each have a form of message box, you see.

[ The "inbox" is still a peculiar concept to Dion, but he has made use of it to contact Cloud, so he knows it works. ]

Oh. These are pretty useful. We could really have used something like this back home sometimes.

[Especially during the obligatory gotta split up the party sections! Vivi can't help but be impressed. But then, it isn't like it takes all that much to get him excited. A lot of things are still new to him, given he's only a mere nine months old.]

It's far more efficient than methods employed in my world, as well.

[ Some advancements in this world are so far beyond those of his own that they might as well be their own form of sorcery. Dion can't help but marvel at it. ]

[ornitiers]

We would send letters with the moogles. But this is way quicker! And you can talk to lots of people at once!

[It's pretty amazing! At least to Vivi. He's not used to a lot of this sort of technology, even if he is aware of some of it. Though, he did grow up in the swamps, so even what he was familiar with back home isn't anything like this.]

Moogles carry mail in your world?

[ He can't help but be diverted by this piece of information. ]

[ornitiers]

Yeah! Some of them. There is one we met that sells stuff. And I think Mog, Eiko's moogle, is more like her friend.

[But generally. Yes, they would go around delivering letters and helping out where they could.]

That is interesting. I've been told of moogles from another place, but their role was quite different.

[ Mail moogles don't sound bad at all to Dion. Imagine receiving mail carried by a cute little creature... ]

[ornitiers]

What did the other moogles do?

[Vivi can't help being curious at that. He's not sure what else he might imagine them doing. But they seemed helpful back home, delivering the mail and setting up stores to sell things that might help him or his friends along their journey.]

I was told that, in some other world, they would revive the fallen.

[ Mayuko had explained the place she last found herself in such detail that Dion does not doubt her account. He dares wonder why moogles would be tasked with such a thing, or how, but they were considered supernatural beings even in his own world. Magical creatures. ]

[ornitiers]

Revive the fallen....?

[Like the phoenix? The phoenix down? That is definitely new. Not that the moogles weren't ever involved in fighting sometimes. But Vivi isn't sure that it had been the case. At least as far as he was aware. So he just wants to learn about this, curious as to the differences.]

Yes. It seems death was not uncommon in that world, but moogles could bring people back, somehow.

[ Like so much else, it is peculiar to contemplate. Dion wishes he had asked more about it, but he was too concerned with so much else. ]

Those who fall here may be revived here as well, but it comes at a pricem

People can be brought back here, too? What kind of price?

[Besides the likely psychological issues that might result in such a thing occurring. Bringing someone back from the dead. Vivi is used to there usually being some sort of catch somehow, though. So he kind of expects that even before the other finishes that last sentence.]

A loss. We know not what the toll will be, but it could be anything. A memory, a limb... It is not worth risking, in my opinion.

[ While it may make sense enough that something miraculous would come at a price, what stands out to Dion is the sheer unpredictability of it. ]

[ornitiers]

Oh....yeah, even if we can be brought back, that still seems risky. Not knowing what the consequence might be.

[Though. In Vivi's case, he is probably still more likely to be a little more reckless. If only because he still figures he has a matter of months left to live. So he may as well, in that case, make the most of it and be useful. If he can. To protect others.]

I don't want to forget.

Nor do I.

[ Even the painful memories are a part of who he is. Were he to forget them, the events of his life would be no less real, but to not know them... It would be wrong. How much could one lose before becoming a different person?

Dion would rather not know. ]

Though I was also informed that our points may be exchanged for a means to waive the cost of a revival. It seems a worthwhile investment, if only to be safe.

[ He says this while thinking only of buying it for others... ]

Really? The points?

[Vivi imagines that wouldn't be cheap. Wonders whether he would have enough. To pay to avoid that cost. He figures he has a few months. But not too long. All he can do is try to earn as much as he can, he supposes. So that he might try to avoid losing his memories or whatever else might be taken in exchange. Points he did not mind losing as much.]

Then.....maybe, in a few months, if I have enough...

It seems manageable. I can't imagine you would have difficulty.

[ After all, Vivi is out there doing his best.

As for how long it might take to accrue, Dion supposes that depends on how much one does to earn points. A few months strikes him as realistic, based on his personal experience. ]

Aurora occasionally offers means to earn additional points as well, if certain tasks are complete.

I hope so.

[He guesses he would just have to see. Obviously, he likely has more of a time limit on that to be mindful of compared to others. He just hopes that it works out and he doesn't have to suffer the consequences for dying if he can manage to get enough points. But there's nothing for it but to try his best. Especially if she sometimes might give out quests to get more of these points.]
