[The voice that comes through on the network is elegant and precise - every word is weighed and considered before being spoken. ]

I am told this is a forum where one may solicit public opinion.

If there is one experience you could have again, what would it be?

What from your home do you find yourself missing the most?

You are correct. I think a new artist would be a wonderful addition.

[Compliment in one hand, dislike in the other.]

There is no reason I cannot meet new artists and remain in the comfort of home.

[He figuratively has one foot in a new world, one in the old. The emotional experiences of his life lend his pieces a perspective she cannot experience for herself.]

Perhaps. But one can rely on assistance too much in order to experience feeling. The effects are not a true representation of one's true, sober feelings. The art may feel profound. But is the experience genuine?

[And he's not just talking about drugs.]

Art comes from experience and emotion, two facets of what some call the soul. Enhancing yourself distorts your work because you are inviting the influence of others onto your canvas.

One must view works in context. But when it comes to mixing your emotions with another, there is always a void where the two must meet.

It is a delicate thing, no? To be able to trust those viewing your work.

What you describe is stronger than abuse. I would not speak in such terms were I ever guilty of the same.

[GOOD.]

Not at all. But an artist is responsible for maintaining their work rather than abandoning it.

True art has a life of its own, mademoiselle. Is that not what they say?
betenoir: (Abandonment)

A painting is not a mere collection of colours. Regardless, you are familiar with cultures contrary to the mainstream, no? I expect those people will say the same about you in thirty years.
betenoir: (Hopeless)

You overestimate the average person.

[That, too, is not something he used to say.]

Work can change in numerous ways over decades, but its soul always remains constant.

Yet here you impose yourself on the imaginings of others, while demonstrating an opinion that never seems to change.

Certain situations deserve empathy instead of unfeeling logic, mademoiselle. Compassion is not weakness - and sometimes the need for harmony in relationships is of more importance than being correct. Human opinions are based as much on memories, hopes and dreams as facts. You should know this, as much as you should know what is reality and fact changes between one person and another.

For all you speak of the progress of art, you are still subliminating your opinions into something socially acceptable.

[He's not angry. Just disappointed.]

You're very welcome to believe that, mademoiselle. And I am free to ignore you.

[That is one choice he can make. But it would be made with reservation, because he cannot afford to ignore her.]

Yet, here we are - enduring each other's company. I have made every effort to ignore you but I see that would be pointless.

[For at the end of the day, they want similar things, but for different reasons.]
