Oh, I actually kind of... missed going on the mission.

[ Her friends all started disappearing before the mission, and so when time to leave Amy sort of... missed it. ]

Ah. That might be a kindness. It isn’t terrible but it is very different.

Oh yeah? How different? Is everything going okay?

[ Hearing about the mission might help distract her, at least for a bit. ]

We're in a vibrant world with people of all sorts. But, the catch is we have to be undercover as if we've always lived here. We were given new abilities to fit in.

Oh really? Like superhero identities and that kind of thing? Like from comic books and stuff?

Supposedly? We don’t have those at home so, I’ve been relying on the knowledge of friends. I am familiar with undercover work, however.

Huh. I've never gone undercover myself, really, though I know others who have. But keeping abilities and identities a secret does sound like superhero stuff.

[ Gorgug has helped keep Rosie sane through her time here. Of that, there is no doubt. Still, she wants him to meet Feldspar someday and... Rosie wants to the man again too. Somehow. ]

Yeah, something like that. It just helps having people who understand where you come from.

[ Particularly for Amy too; not that she minds humans or other humanoids, but it had been nice not being the only one animal-like person around. ]

But at least being here means we all have similar experiences too, so that helps.

[ Even when she's feeling down, Amy always tries to look at the bright side. ]

Oh yeah, it's really interesting getting to learn about different worlds, and seeing how things are things are different while having some things be the same too.

And that's true! When you share those kinds of experiences with people, it's hard not to get close to them.

[ A concerned looking Vax appears in the video. He'll understand if she doesn't want to talk, though. ]

Hey... I know how it feels to be on your own, but you're not alone. You know that, right?

[ She doesn't quite answer right away, not entirely sure how she feels. She doesn't know if she really wants to talk about it, but at the same time she doesn't want to be alone now either. ]

Yeah... I know. But it's still... hard not to feel a little lonely anyway, you know?

I know.

[ He definitely knows. He's felt alone more times than he hasn't since he came to Etraya. Sure, he's met people, maybe even made some friends, but it's not like they're always around the way his group back home was. ]

I can be there if you want some company. We don't have to talk unless you want to.

[ He can just sit around if that's all she needs. ]

[ She hesitates again, because she really would like the company. But she didn't want to seem so desperate for it. ]

I mean... if it's not too much trouble? You don't have to go out of your way.

[ Vax doesn't think she's desperate. She has every reason to be upset. He thinks the only thing worse than having his friends here might be having them and then losing them. ]

Of course it's not. Just tell me where I can find you. I won't even make you do archery practice today.

[ That does get a little laugh from her. ] Honestly, I wouldn't even mind practicing. It might help take my mind off things.

But um... oh, maybe we can meet at the cafe?

[ Desserts sometimes helped cheer her up when she was feeling down. ]

Alright. Cafe and then maybe some archery after.

[ Once he gets the location of the cafe, Vax will be there in no time. ]

[ While she doesn't exactly take her time to head over, she isn't in a rush either. Just enough time to head over so that Vax wouldn't be waiting without hurrying.

When Vax arrives she's already looking at the menu, debating about whether to get anything. When she spots him, though, she offers a small wave. ]

[ She won't be waiting long, either. There's a moment when he thought he might have arrived first, but then he spots her at a booth and walks over to join her. ]

Hi, Pinky.

[ He gives lots of people nicknames. She'll have to live with it. After sliding into the booth, he glances around. ]

Don't think I've been here. This city is even bigger than the ones we have back home.

[ The nickname does get a smile from her. Not the most creative nickname she's heard, but she appreciates the effort anyway. ]

Yeah? What are cities like where you're from?

[ She's heard a little bit about his world, from the stories that he's told her here and there. But it was still fun to hear about different places. ]

[ His nicknames are more terms of endearment than made to be clever. ]

The ones that are cities are pretty grand, but not as spread out. There's usually markets, businesses, temples, and some seat of power that rules over it. There's lots of people, but not like this.

[ She nods as she listens, comparing what he says to here, as well as the cities she's familiar with back home. ]

That sounds a lot like the cities on the islands back home. Where I'm from, there are humans, but they mostly live on the mainlands, while we live on the surrounding islands. And there are a lot of islands, and a lot of them connect.

But this place is a lot like the cities on the main continents, while our cities, though still pretty big, aren't quite as big as a place like this.

Being moved around for missions so much doesn't make it easier to get used to.

[ Even if they spend time in Etraya, that city often changes, as well. ]

[ It's an invitation to talk about them and what happened, if she wants. If she dismisses the subject, he won't push it. ]

Yeah, that's true.

[ But maybe they weren't meant to feel at home here anyway. It was just where they were staying in order to help their home worlds. ]

Sort of. We came from different islands of course, and some of us live a bit closer now. Though one of my friends is actually a princess from another dimension, and I've only been there once but didn't really get a chance to see too much of what it was like.

Another dimension? So it's not your first time ending up in another world?

[ Some people have experience with that. ]

I've been to another realm, but that was the Fae Realm. It's a part of our universe, even if most are never able to go there.

Not really. And even being here I got to meet alternate versions of my friends from other dimensions too. That had taken a bit of getting used to, but it was also kinda fun seeing how some things were different and similar between the different worlds.

Oh, we have a few of those kinds of things back home too. Ours are kinda like pocket dimensions. What's the Fae Realm like?

[ Similar and different? Vax wonders if his own world has things like that. ]

It's... like an acid trip gone wrong? [ He laughs a little. ] Lots of colors. Lots of things trying to kill you or fuck with you.

[ Amy can't help a little laugh as well. ] Sounds pretty crazy, then. But we have some pocket dimensions just like that at home too.

Is it easy to get into the Fae Realm? Or are there only certain entrances here and there?

It takes a certain level of skill to open a portal. A friend of mine was able to do it.

[ Vax couldn't, of course. He's not that kind of warrior. ]

But it's not a place I'd like to revisit if I can help it.

[ Like he said, it's weird. ]

Oh wow. Your friend must be pretty powerful then.

[ At least she had to assume so. The dimension portals were pretty random back home, and she had to assume had to do with the Chaos Emeralds more than anything. ]

It sounds like you must have had pretty crazy adventures there.

[ .. oh.

Fabian remembers her. It takes a moment, especially since it's not like he's seen her often, but then it clicks together in her mind. Alongside her message - that she's the only one from her world left. Even though Fabian has had people from his world disappear from this place, he's far from the only one left. But he can imagine how much that would suck. ]

This place is so messed up for doing that to you. [ He starts with that first - because Fabian is a little bad at just.. being vulnerable and sweet right away, especially in public.. But his intention behind it is good, really. Even as he huffs after saying that. ]

At least it's not like you're completely alone here, right?

[ That gets a little laugh from her, even there's still a touch of sadness in it. ] Thanks.

And no, not... completely. I've met a lot of nice people here.

[ Not too many that she's as close to as she was with her friends, though. ]

See, that's what I thought.

[ Even if Fabian thinks there are some people here that are purely just annoying, he knows there's also some people here that are better than that. People that are fun to be around. Surely Amy must have ran into some of those, by the sound of it. ]

I know it's not as good as just being back home. And I also know that being here is the worst. But I know that if I don't at least remind myself some of the people here are tolerable, I will drive myself utterly crazy in ten seconds flat.

[ Amy shrugs a shoulder. ] It's not really so bad here. I'm used to dealing with tough stuff at home too, so it's nothing I'm not used to. And it helps a lot of people here are willing to work together.

It's just... gonna take some getting used to being the only one from home.

Hey, if you want to complain, then you should complain!

[ Granted, maybe Amy really is that okay with everything. It's just hard for a guy like Fabian - who is hardly ever satisfied, let alone after having been dragged away from home - to imagine it. Hence why he can't help but wonder if may this is her problem. ]

Sometimes you just have to throw it out there!

We haven't spoken before, but I am... sorry that you're alone now.

There are a few people from my world here, and I'm not certain what I'd do if they were to vanish.

[The woman who speaks certainly looks... unusual, with her complete lack of eyebrows. But she's sympathetic enough.]

[ Honestly, the woman's appearance doesn't even really phase Amy, and she manages a faint smile, grateful for the sympathy. ]

Thanks. It... It's taking a bit of getting used to.

[ She doesn't like being alone, and it's been so long since she's felt truly alone like this. Even with the people she's met here, it's not quite the same as having people from home. ]

[ Since they are technically meeting for the first time. ]

Amy.

[She offers a gentle smile. It's sincere enough, even if there's sorrow in it. She understands loneliness too well.]

I'm Claudia.

[She doesn't need to say it, since it's her username, but she says it anyway.]
