[ Today is a... complicated one for Ardyn, to say the least. No one but him knows why though and he'll likely keep it that way.

He has, however, gotten extremely drunk about it and that lends itself to him asking a query on the Etrayan network: ]


What does fate mean to you?

[ He appreciates now more than ever the auto-correct feature. He should probably invest in some reading glasses eventually, but that'll be a problem for Ardyn-with-a-headache-from-squinting-in-the-dark-at-a-small-screen and not the Ardyn of now. ]

I suppose it is.

I don't think fate exists in the sense that certain actions or events are inevitable. We all make our own choices. But I used to think it was possible that fate was something people could create, in a sense.

Is that so?

From what I've been told, 'fate' is preordained. Our decisions mean nothing in the grand scheme; all will happen as its supposed to. I'm not sure I buy into it myself, honestly, but that's what the deity of judgement himself told me so... Who knows!

I think buying into that is just abdicating responsibility.

[For what? Anything, everything.]

You met a deity of judgment? How?

By being summoned by him when I acted out against his supposed fate. It wasn't a very productive conversation either unfortunately.

He supposedly has a plan for me, for all of us, and that's that.

That's quite a story. Do you think he believes what he told you? Or does he just want you to believe?

It's possible it's a little bit of both.

I think he truly believes he has the ultimate power and say so in everything, but I also wonder how true that actually is just because no one's been powerful enough to take him down yet.

There's always someone with more powerful if you're willing to look for them and keep an open mind about what power really means.
If he hasn't learned that yet, he probably will eventually.

While I want it to be my teeth sunk into his neck, I'll settle for someone else being able to take him down eventually.

And who knows? Maybe someone here will be able to eventually overcome Echo and their influence as well.

That would be nice, wouldn't it.

It would! I'm not sure I buy this whole well-meaning omniscient front it's trying to portray.

Although maybe if because I was in Echo's place, I'd do things a lot differently. I've never been one for the hands-off approach though.
