What does fate mean to you?

[ He appreciates now more than ever the auto-correct feature. He should probably invest in some reading glasses eventually, but that'll be a problem for Ardyn-with-a-headache-from-squinting-in-the-dark-at-a-small-screen and not the Ardyn of now. ]

Fate is usually a coward’s alibi. But sometimes it does choose with surgical cruelty. In those cases, the only freedom left is how one meets it, whether to buckle or to walk forward anyway.

I’ve seen someone do the latter. It’s humbling, and I damn well respect them for it. Which is irritating, frankly, because it leaves the rest of us with fewer excuses.

And what if walking forward wasn't a good thing? Say, someone was told their fate was to be their world's worst monster.

Would you still consider it a respectful choice?
