[ Today is a... complicated one for Ardyn, to say the least. No one but him knows why though and he'll likely keep it that way.

He has, however, gotten extremely drunk about it and that lends itself to him asking a query on the Etrayan network: ]


What does fate mean to you?

[ He appreciates now more than ever the auto-correct feature. He should probably invest in some reading glasses eventually, but that'll be a problem for Ardyn-with-a-headache-from-squinting-in-the-dark-at-a-small-screen and not the Ardyn of now. ]

I think you're quite right.
At least, that's my experience with fate. It never was anything to do with me, really, just a series of choices that led to the inevitable.

Or so the gods said.

I don't really have any experience with gods or whatever? I don't know anything about that.

I just think that fate sounds so depressing. Like you can't change anything, and have no control over your life. I don't think that's true for most people.

You're better off for it, trust me.

Since that is exactly what the gods want humans to believe. Whether actually true or not, well- Who can say? The idea of fate, ever decided and unchanging, is a bit depressing though I agree.

Oh. Really? That sounds so boring. Like if I had the power of a god, there's at least ten other things I could think of than controlling everyone's lives that would be cooler and more logical.

Yeah, I think it's better if people get to choose their own paths.

You would think there'd be something more appealing to a deity than controlling those beneath it, and yet... Who knows? Maybe it needs us a lot more than we need it.

[ It was something he suspected a time or two: Did Bahamut really have true authority, or just enough power to make everyone believe so? ]

It certainly makes for a more interesting life if one isn't beholden to some grand design. After all, I doubt the 'fate' our gods have in store for me involved coming here.

Do you think so? I've never really had the chance to ask anyone who knows about gods anything. I didn't grow up with that kind of thing.

That's true, there's gonna be some people who are upset that I'm here instead of doing what they want.
