Would you have made different choices in different circumstances? Ones that might have led you to agreeing, rather than being enemies?
Who can say? That isn't a you that exists, but it could have been. Maybe some force, like 'fate,' led you to be exactly where you are and make the choices you did. Or maybe it was all just circumstantial and the chips fell where they may. I find it hard to believe 'fate' could account for every possibility there ever would be and choose one path specifically for a person, but the avatar of it on my world claims that to be the case.
