If you think you’re going to become a danger to others during this upcoming mission, what precautions are you taking?

Been seeing a few people mention sedatives, and needles sound far more convenient than methods I'd otherwise use. Thought I'd pick some up, just in case anybody needs to be stopped from doing something they'll regret later.

Aside from that, going to load up on supplies to store in Abyss. Two weeks can be long.

It could work, especially since we would all be without our usual natural defenses. Needles are more effective than a rag with chloroform. You just have to know where to inject.

I'll need to think about how everything needs to be set up first but if you don't mind, can help me put in my provisions as well?

Don't have that back home either, but I know my way around plants. Where's the best place to stick a needle? Got a few guesses, but I don't want to harm somebody for want of information.

Of course I don't mind. I'd prefer you've got everything set up how you need it, so I'm all for lending a hand.

This is assuming you're dealing with human biology or biology that's close enough to human.

My blood supply has to be kept cold and whatever space I'm in, there needs to be nothing I could possibly use to cause trouble.

I'll keep it in mind. Most of us look close enough, but that doesn't guarantee anything.

The latter's easy. The former we'll need to sort. We've got some of those portable generators from Earth here. Bet we can borrow a refrigerator from somewhere nearby.

For short term use, yes. That should be enough. I'll provide instructions if needed but it's best I don't know the Abyss's layout ahead of time.

Makes sense. You're a sharp one— might work against us in this case if you know too much.

Thank you. It's unfortunately necessary that we have to anticipate what I might come up with while my mind is compromised for this.

Hey, at least I know to prepare for it. I've known a fair few clever dastards in my time.

Fortification's something I'm very familiar with, ought to avail us here.

Hopefully it'll be enough and others can benefit from it as well.

I make a point of being fine.

Aurora tells me that remote help won't count as participation, so I'm seeing about what does. Got to be something we can work with.

It's possible for her to keep people safe after all then. But it would mean not participating.

Looks that way. I don't know about testing whatever pentalties come with "opting out" altogether, so I'd rather find a solution.

Protection is possible but it's not the default option. And only after you asked do we know about it.

How considerate hosts we have.

I'd vastly prefer we got all the details up front. Spares us the guessing games. Don't know whether Echo's imposed some strange stipulation we have to ask first, but if so: why?

[ When their time to prepare is so short, having to take stabs at what their options are seems counter to their success. ]

[It's all the more reason why Kirk is already so unhappy about this mission. It seems cruel and further gives the sense they're just someone's entertainment]

Then there's the matter of if this protection can be trusted. It could be another trap.

It could, as some form of test. See who takes the out, or something of that nature.

Curious what Aurora's been told we're allowed to do here, to get the job done.

I would like to know as well. It all goes back to not knowing who Echo really is.

Depending on how she answers, I might consider the opt-out.

Echo seems less results-driven than I'd expect. That, or closing the vent's not the only aim here.

I suppose. It can only be used once every six months.

But after what happened during the last mission, this may be best for me.

I'll wait to pull on that thread until the next time we're face-to-face.

[ He noticed the way Kirk holed up afterward, but he's not going to pry on a public venue like this. ]

[Kirk is still a near recluse after the last mission but he knows he can't hide from everyone forever. Especially now that he can see how useful the Abyss might be]

It sounds like the Abyss can still be useful for me in other ways. I'd like to take a look when we have the time.
