[ Sometime after the fog clears, a video appears on the network showing the charred, smoking wreck of what used to be Hannibal Lecter's house. Gustave, looking tired and worn down, is visible on screen, and beyond him Gorgug Thistlespring can be seen poking through the ruins. ]

Hi, everyone.

During the fog, Gorgug, Vincent Valentine, and I came into contact with a large, hostile creature. I'm not certain of its species or origin, but it seemed to be a little over two meters in height with a large, elongated skull and barbed tail.

Sometime during our run-in with it, Vincent somehow... transformed into it? He engaged it in a fight while Gorgug and I — well —

[ He gestures back at the smoldering remains of what had once been a beautiful, if disturbing, residence. ]

— But we lost track of Vincent himself in the chaos. The last time we saw him, he was still in the shape of the creature, and he is currently not responding to attempts to contact him over the network.

Gorgug and I are going out to look for him, and we could use all the help we can get. For everyone else, please be cautious if you find him while he's still in the creature's form. He may be dangerous to others, or even to himself. Thanks.

[Gustave...? So, is this the same Gustave that Maelle has been mentioning to him? It's what gathers his attention the most, although he also cares about Gorgug too.]

So, you're the guy that Maelle has been talking about. And apparently the guy that lost track of a monster over two meters tall. [Impressive.] If you think that Vincent's weakness are concussive blasts, I guess I could help.

As soon as we came out of the house, I was swallowed up by the fog again. Maybe you managed to find your way through it, but unfortunately that wasn't my luck.

I can't say it's not a weakness. We didn't have a chance to try anything like that on the other creature, but I'd imagine that a concussive blast strong enough would be effective on pretty much anything corporeal.

[laserguy]

Yeah that's me, known for my luck.

Cool, then, yeah I can go. [Never mind the fact this his battle experience is pretty low.... it's probably fine.] Probably suck if you got torn apart and stuff.

[Maelle would be really upset about it, he knows.]

[Don't even joke about Gustave getting hurt.]

And ruin my brand? I have to give your old man somewhat of a hard time.

Agonizingly difficult.

[Should they be chatting like this when this Vincent guy is still MIA? It's probably okay for a little bit. It's nice to just. Be stupid like this for a moment.]

In fact I'm going to kneel over now. It's too much... being nice.

[ Scott probably can't know the depth of feeling evoked at those words — one of Maelle's friends. Just one of many, something she never managed to have in Lumière.

His smile is audible in his voice, despite the weariness accompanying it. ]

Hi, Scott. It's nice to meet you, even just by audio. I've heard a lot about you.

[ From Emma, but still. ]

So, should I leave the two of you to talk more privately, or...?

[ He can turn a polite blind eye — er, pretend not to hear — but it is the public network. ]

Yeah? Only the good stuff right?

[Why else would he be talked about-- but no, he actually notices the slight warmness in his voice, like he's not just saying that to be polite or whatever.

And honestly, since he is important to Maelle and even Sophie...]

Nah, it's cool. We'll continue talking whenever we want. But hey, I really do intend to help if you need it. I'm mostly good for long distance fighting, or maybe attract Vincent's attention if you need something to flare up in the sky.

We didn't lose track of the thing we blew up the house with. That's dead.

[ In the rubble! ]

Vincent just... we don't know if he got turned too? [ A pause, and then mumbling: ] Do we need to check the body...?

[laserguy]

[Casually mentioning that they blew up a house. He respects it.]

You mean check the body of the dead thing? Gustave mentioned that Vincent took the creature's appearance... are you worried that it somehow attached to Vincent when it died or something?

[tinflower]

It's not that. [ It's just...! ] It could've been a person.

... but they should've resurrected by now, I think.

[laserguy]

[Oh, he didn't even consider that.]

Guess it's either try and find that body again or casually ask if anyone remembers dying in a house explosion.

[tinflower]

Recently. [ You can even hear him nodding at the very important part of that question.

Just a thing people sometimes do, Scott! ]

[He repeats. Though there's definitely some 'wtf' in that singular word. He gets it, but also, man.]

Well, as I told Gustave, I'm coming along to help you guys with whatever. Can't have the old man or my friend here get killed now after you just survived the actual mission. That's dumb.
