Chirper

CHIRPER

Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:
  • Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
  • When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya, or by other characters on behalf of their friends! This includes the Q&A section.
  • Characters can either like or dislike others' CHIRPER profiles. These responses are public.
  • This is voluntary on an OOC basis; if the character doesn't have a profile completed by themselves or anyone else, nothing shows up for them on CHIRPER.
  • For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER profiles are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.
This month there is a special 👻 SPOOKY SEASON 👻 addition: instead of ✓ or ✕ for like or dislike, it's 🎃 and 💀. Whatever the character has the most votes for shows up appended to their username on the network for the next month, as in, un: aurora 💀.

Please feel free to switch out any of the Q&A questions with those listed here!

**This is a fixed version of the code, sorry about that!

I know. I wish he were here, but I am uncertain if I want to distress him. He doesn't like changes in environments. You wouldn't believe how long it took him to stop biting me for trying to get him used to one of the greenhouses.

[ Said with affection. ]

I am not sure what Reeses are either, but the ice cream I had was flavored with sadness.

[ Terrible, terrible ice cream. The food here makes Clea so distressed. Except for the coffee. ]

Awfully thoughtful of you. Is someone else caring for him?

[He knows the way this all works is slightly outside time. Still. It’s hard to have conversations with respect to that.]

Are you adjusting well here?

[He wasn’t going to pretend that creature comforts could make all the difference.]

No. If time is not stopped, he and the dogs are alone and will die.

[ And then her family will follow. ]

That depends on what you mean by 'well'.

Come on, now. You’d rather him be dead than uncomfortable for a while?

[…And thankfully time is probably stopped? Or something? He wasn’t totally clear on it, but his brief absence was otherwise not noted. But he couldn’t know for sure either.]

I think what you think well means is rather important. Did you ever get your workshop or a solar?

[ He has a point. It would be better he be uncomfortable, but with her and cared for, than dead. ]

You're right.

I have not. I have been preoccupied with other matters.

[ Recovering from physical assault and mental violation, mostly. ]

Have you left yours more often?

Yes, as it so happens. I’ve got people to check in on, things to do. Birds and horses to keep track of. Even the landscape changes every day.

Perhaps you ought to find somewhere you hate a bit less, eh? I could take you around if you’re shy. There’s so much here to see. No reason to be cooped up. It’s not even properly winter yet.

Horses do require a lot of care, and birds do love attention. Once they know you understand them, they're impossible to escape.

I am more mobile now. What interesting places would you show me?

I do believe you're the first person in my life to have ever termed me shy, monsieur.

I hardly know you, either. I could pin down a more accurate description in time. I doubt you’re timid, either. But what other sort of woman knows what she likes, knows what she needs… And pointedly doesn’t take them?

Does more mobile mean “staying with friends” or “sleeping under the stars”?

Still. There are buildings of tremendous beauty, even just along the trolley’s path. The Hall of Apeiron, Garreg Mach, Stonhyrr is full of art, even. Even if it’s a bit repetitive. There’s a strange building off the coast in Seasands that warrants a closer look, too. A couple grand abodes in the mountains with the sort of architecture I’ve never seen before in my life.

Do you ride the trolley much?

[ Clea feels... how would Sophie describe it? 'Called out.' It is an unusual feeling. The man is right: She could have taken somewhere different and she had not. Why? The answer is clear to her: Because that would mean accepting she is going to be here for a long time.

She is disappointed in herself. ]

I meant it literally - I could not accept your invitation previously as I was recuperating.

There are some parts of Etraya that are bewitching. The catacombs are of home but not. The monolith, as you said. I have not entered the Hall of Apeiron as there are warnings that I should not. I feed the koi Lakewell since my instructor has gone, and visit Leafless Valley. I would like to see more of Stonhyrr and the tower that lies beyond.

I’ve been recuperating as well. But nothing helps quite like fresh air and sunshine.

I’ll show it to you, if you like. You may need an escort past the behemoth. I’ve hardly seen it all, either. Each island holds unique beauty, the sort I’ve never seen before.

[There’s warnings at the Hall?]

Interesting... I’ll have to go see for myself. I must have missed the warning, but never ran along any danger.

May I see the behemoth as well?

There is a great variety to see here. I do wish I could see some of the locations in their natural demesnes - to see how the architecture and landscape flow in their native environments. Etraya is as a quilt made of patches from many garments, and I would like to see the wholes.

Yes. It says not to enter if you don't understand geometry and irrational numbers.

[ Why geometry in particular, Clea isn't certain. She has some facility in such things: It is the form of mathematics most useful for the arts, but she didn't want to risk it. The catacombs were different: She knows those warnings, their handwriting as clear a sign of home as anything here. ]

Aye, you an meet the behemoth. She’s not very friendly, but she can be bribed and plied. She likes me well enough.

[He remains uneaten, after all.]

There is. Though, the land Stonhyrr has been borrowed from grows sicker by the day. There is little to see of it, blighted as it is.

[Cid scoffs.]

I’m no slouch in my maths, but I would hardly take threats from some anonymous bookworm.

She has the right to her boundaries. If my presence displeases her, I will remove myself. What is her preferred method of bribe? I would come prepared to sway a queen.

Stonhyrr is from your world then?

In my experience, one ignores the bookworms at one's own peril. They can be surprisingly vicious.

She’s a great beast. Bring her a nice cut of meat and she’ll look the other way if I’m there.

It is.
[And offers nothing else unprompted.]

Then the peril I accept, for a bit of adventure.

[ There is no need to pry into a matter he doesn't wish to discuss. That he signals so clearly is pleasant: It prevents her from making a deliberate misstep. If that is his home, he would like as not not want to hear her thoughts on the beauty of decay. ]

Then I will procure some.

You have a point that adventure requires peril. Otherwise, it would be a mere errand, would it not?

[Still, there is no need to offer him this comfort. This is how he is about everything. He shares seldom little about himself, a detail that can be sometimes overlooked as he trades this with the sheer amount that he speaks. ]

Yes indeed. Our daily lives must meaningfully challenge us, or else we miss out on opportunities to grow and change!
repaintress: by betenoir (1)

[personal profile] repaintress 2025-10-14 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Precisely, monsieur! To live without challenge is to invite stagnation, which is nothing more than a slow spiritual demise while the body lives.

I appreciate your point of view.

[ It keeps her from wallowing. Such an uncouth habit. ]
