CHIRPER

Welcome to our bi-monthly CHIRPER post!

There are a few ways to interact with CHIRPER:
  • Characters receive a notification to please fill out the form, which is fully optional. There is a character requirement of two characters per answer field. This is to discourage leaving the spaces blank.
  • When forms are not filled out, they can be filled out by the companion bots of Etraya, or by other characters on behalf of their friends! This includes the Q&A section.
  • Characters can either like or dislike others' CHIRPER profiles. These responses are public.
  • This is voluntary on an OOC basis; if the character doesn't have a profile completed by themselves or anyone else, nothing shows up for them on CHIRPER.
  • For those who do post a top level, CHIRPER profiles are worth five extra points regardless of if they are put up willingly by the character themselves. These five extra points do apply to the 25 maximum per month.
This month there is a special ๐Ÿ‘ป SPOOKY SEASON ๐Ÿ‘ป addition: instead of โœ“ or โœ• for like or dislike, it's ๐ŸŽƒ and ๐Ÿ’€. Whatever the character has the most votes for shows up appended to their username on the network for the next month, as in, un: aurora ๐Ÿ’€.

Please feel free to switch out any of the Q&A questions with those listed here!

**This is a fixed version of the code, sorry about that!

I was looking forward to punching a kid's teeth down his throat, you want to put me in a room with touchy people?

I think leaving you to your own devices in such a state is a far worse option.

The worst I'll do is make someone else cry I've never fucking met before. I have people to look after. Including you now. I'm good.

[He's not fine. He's not fooling Harold probably. But pretending might patch up whatever hole he's kicked open here so]

Fine, sir. I'll bring food. We'll eat like a big goddamn family.

It's only a request, not a requirement. If you truly don't want to then we can have dinner alone. But I did mean to check on you and Mr. Carver regardless -- I would have done so sooner, but I've been otherwise preoccupied.

We're fine. Carver's doing better than I am. [A flat out lie but you never, ever tell the leader when a brother is struggling.

He leaves it at that for a while. He can't make sense of Harold's game here. His assumption had been that the whole team would be together to witness Bossie's punishment, as an example to everyone not to harass someone Harold cares about. But he doesn't think Harold is strong enough to punish him alone. Unless that's the test. Unless Bossie is meant to just sit quiet and take it, even from a man he could otherwise beat.

Well fuck. He can do that. He'll tie his own goddamn hands behind his back and let Harold drowned him if he has to. He's no bitch. He'll do it with a smile.
]

It's up to you, sir.

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-14 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Harold seriously doubts that but has enough presence of mind not to actually type that out. Besides, he thinks it's a good general policy not to let any of his 'employees' think he's expecting them to tattle on one another -- and if Shaw and John are assuredly team by now, as Shaw so inimitably put it, then Bossie and Carver have not made it there yet.

He is abruptly extremely tired, a sensation that keeps coming over him in waves, passing by and then returning. ]

I'd like to see all of you are alive and in one piece with my own eyes, if it isn't too much of an imposition.

[There's a little relief in knowing the similarities. Pope always insisted on dressing him down in front of the others, too. He feels sick; he also feels a little steadier.]

I'm making mac and cheese, sir.

[It's all he knows to make for a group.]

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-14 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Why has the sir come back? What exactly is he expecting to happen here? Harold really can't fathom it and is too tired to try to stretch his mind to imagine the possible horribleness. He is just out of mental resources to tolerate horribleness right now unless he absolutely has to.

He just wants a nice calm team dinner in which no one is losing their minds or dying, damn it. ]

I think that will be lovely. I'll ask Mr. Reese to make a side salad.

Re: private

[personal profile] nottheboss 2025-10-14 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reese. He hasn't seen him since the fog. He dug out the bullet John lodged into his shoulder and he's kept it in his pocket ever since. It's Bossie's first injury in a mission since the knife in his back, back home. It's a grim souvenir but he's proud of it.

He decides not to tell Harold about that; he'd rather not get John in trouble for friendly fire. Friendly fire is the sort of sin you hang for, but it was an honest mistake.
]

He doing okay?

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Harold probably already knows about that since he and John share most everything at this point, and likely thinks nothing of it. Regardless... ]

Well enough. There was something in the fog that rattled him but nothing we can't move past.

Re: private

Good.

[Nothing he can do about it if John isn't fine anyway.]

Is that all, sir?

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
One more thing, actually. You can of course make your own decisions, but I would exercise caution with Dr. Jonathan Crane, username 'Ulysses'. I saw that you responded to his post and presume your conversation continued privately. I have reason to believe he's untrustworthy.

I don't want to presume further, but in case you weren't aware, there is treatment and medication available at the hospital.

Re: private

[personal profile] nottheboss 2025-10-15 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't trust the hospital.

Why's he untrustworthy? Besides him being a shrink.

[He already doesn't trust Crane because of that]

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not fond of it myself. There is one physician here I'm acquainted with who has what seems like a wholly normal frame of reference from my perspective -- that is, he practices medicine from 21st century United States. I could introduce you if you'd like. I believe he would see you outside of the hospital.

To my extreme displeasure I have no further information to offer, only that the warning came from a credible source.

Re: private

[personal profile] nottheboss 2025-10-15 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay.

[He can't have Harold knowing that what he needs is a psychiatrist.]

Seems like Crane is someone to keep an eye on then.
ornithologist: (121)

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Meanwhile, Harold would have already signed him up for a psychiatric partial hospitalization program if such a thing existed and he could trust it, but alas. ]

Yes. Please let me know if you discover anything in that regard.

But if you'd like reputable guidance on what medications to take, Dr. Robert Romano has seemed credible to me. Actually, he's posted on Chirper himself, here.

Re: private

[personal profile] nottheboss 2025-10-15 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I've tried a lot of reputable drugs. Non reputable ones too. Crane's appeal is he is a chemist too.

[He'll poke Romano, though.]
ornithologist: (pic#11629788)

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh, now he's very alarmed. ]

He's a chemist and a psychiatrist? When could the man possibly have the time to do both? In any case, that is a very far cry from being a pharmacist -- and compounding pharmacies are notoriously unregulated free-for-alls, for that matter.

Please for the sake of my blood pressure do not take any substances he offers you unless they've been independently verified to do what he says they will do.

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hardly entitled to opine on what you do in a private and safe environment, up to and including recreational drugs.

But I am worried about your well-being and the possibility that you could be taken advantage of by an unscrupulous drug dealer masquerading as a legitimate medical professional, yes.

Re: private

[personal profile] nottheboss 2025-10-15 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's not used to this. What does he do? What's he expected to do here?]

I won't let you down, sir.
ornithologist: (069)

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I appreciate that, but that is not my concern. On the contrary, if Dr. Crane does anything untoward or that you are displeased with, inform me immediately and I will handle it.

Re: private

[personal profile] nottheboss 2025-10-15 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[What do you say to that? He just fucked up, he's braced to be punished for it, and Harold is talking like this. Like it still matters. Like Bossie doesn't deserve a little just desserts from Crane for what he did to that kid.

So he doesn't answer for a long time. His hands are shaking too much to type. What he finally manages is just:]

Ok
ornithologist: (pic#11629774)

Re: private

[personal profile] ornithologist 2025-10-15 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The problem with this being over text is that Harold really has no idea how to receive this type of response, but ultimately, he has to let Bossie be his own person and make his own decisions. He's so private himself that he respects the right to privacy in others utterly. If he doesn't want to say more, then he won't press. Instead: ]

I've informed Ms. Shaw of your assignment. I suspect she's making ready as we speak, but just to be clear on the parameters, there's really no urgency and I don't expect Mr. Rosfield to be inhospitable. Don't push yourselves unduly.
