[If anyone hasn’t seen Jayce within the past few months, he looks quite a bit different. His hair is longer, he has a beard, and doesn’t seem quite as full of energy as he might have in the past. He’s also not dressing as uptight as he used to— a lack of vest and tie, exchanged for just a simple button up shirt. The background is once again S.T.A.R. labs, although he’s not trying to hide it this time.]

Hey, Etrayans. For those new to this whole thing, welcome. I’m Jayce Talis. For those who came from Pollux, also welcome. I can say with full confidence Aurora’s better at this than Castor is.

[Aurora probably won’t appreciate that comment, but whatever. He stands by it. But that aside…]

I’m putting out a call for fellow scientists to come together and work collaboratively on research involving what we know about Etraya, and more importantly, what we don’t know. This could also include strategizing developments to improve our lives here, and solving problems with our understanding in our respective fields. 


Something that we have here that we lack in our own worlds is the variety of perspectives. In my world, some of our greatest achievements are beyond what’s possible in other worlds, but we don’t have plastics or microwaves. Think of this as an opportunity for all of us to better ourselves, in this… transient existence we’re all stuck in.

Meetings would be here, in S.T.A.R. labs, every Thursday morning. No requirements if you want to participate other than an open mind, and a good attitude. No shooting down suggestions without hearing things out, and if you happen to have some sort of grudge against any of the participants here, you leave it at the door when you come in, or you’re not coming in.

[ No one will ever convince her the people chosen—good to bad—are random.

I'm a biochemist, with a focus on hematology. But I've studied other subjects as well.

[The answer comes out so easily. Technically, it's not a lie either]

It's not the full truth, maybe not even the truth as he sees it,
but it is a truth, and an answer, to the question that she asked. ]

It'll be interesting to see who all decides they're inclined.

Agreed. With how diverse our population is, there are bound to be interesting perspectives we could provide to each other.

Do you dabble in others fields, or stick to your primary?

I dabble in other areas like medical and technology. What about you?

Oh, I am definitely a dabbler.

What I use depends on my circumstances, but I also love to learn new things.

[ Especially given she'll forget even the smallest iota of anything she learns, and will find applications for it later, if she doesn't need them at the current time. Plus, it definitely helps her meticulously track what she gives up and what she doesn't under each of her three guises. ]

What have been the most interesting for you so far?

You mean other than multiversal mechanics, or showing up boys who think women in science need to be neither seen nor heard?

Naturally. Those are just givens.

Before coming here, I was studying up on aerospace engineering,
while researching the history of NASA's SCaN, TDRS, and LCRD Systems.

[ It's not every day the JLA asks you to build and program the communication system of their brand new space station. ]

Impressive. Have you built anything then? Why were you studying those histories?

[It's genuine curiosity and wanting more Bat intel]

A few things.

Nothing all that exciting here,
given our friendly dome up there.

[ She's owned companies and has more than a handful of patents.
None of those had to do with space, but neither did she until she was asked to.

(Well. Aside from stealing all of Luther's satellites.
But that's neither here nor there.) ]

I like looking at how things connect. Where and how the breakthroughs happened, whether by mistake or strategic epiphany, and love to work on how current hiccups might be smoothed out, or processes that haven't been updated in five to ten years can be finessed into the present or rebuilt entirely with a more future-use and upgrading table built in.

All very valuable and versatile skills to have.

Looking at the minute details helps with the bigger picture.

Yes. I find the best teams need both;
the forest for the trees and the whole scale forest itself.

Of course. A team needs to be thorough. You've done this work for a while now?

I've worked with teams for most of my life,
in some form or fashion. Member or leader. You?




Also, which of the two do you think you are more?

[godsandbats]

I'm in a team as well. Just as a member.

[Most of the time, he's fine with Hernan assuming leadership. Though when it comes to deeper investigations that require a lot more subterfuge and subtlety, Kirk is automatically the detective. His skills and superpowers easily lend themselves to those types of missions]

We try to keep people safe as well.

Another similarity a number of people joining this group seem to have.

Perhaps there's crossover with the kind of people who do this kind of work and who would join a science club.
