Hello? I think this should be working. I've mostly been using this to write to people. But um. I'm Keyleth. If you know Vax, or Percy, they might have mentioned me, I'm a friend from back home. One of our Vox Machina group. I just figured since I've been here a bit, I should probably like, introduce myself properly or whatever. If anyone sees me Wildshape, please don't be scared? I can transform into different animals. Most often, it's usually a bird, so I can fly, or a sabertooth. That's probably me if you see one of those around. So uh. Don't be scared or attack me or anything?

Also, if there's like some sort of public gardens or something? I think I'd like to help with something like that. I've always been good with plants. I can heal, a little, but I'm no cleric like Pike or anything.

[She doesn't mind helping out where she can, but. Just. Putting that out there. She's no expert in regards to healing.]

I didn't think it was that unusual or unique. But I guess it might be, at least to some extent. I'll maybe, eventually, get used to explaining and answering people's questions. But thank you. It helps. Knowing others are familiar at least.

Most people in my experience are far more familiar with the sort of science and machinery that predominates here. Enough so that we're outliers. I think there's three people or so I haven't had to explain the concept of planar cosmology to.

It sure seems like it. Not that it's a bad thing! I mean. I'm seeing and doing and learning a lot! But it's still kind of nice to know there are some others you don't have to keep answering questions? You know?

And other people who aren't as familiar with all this stuff as everyone expects us to be. Though since you have people here you know who have been here a bit, I gather, it shouldn't be so bad.

Yeah. I imagine that helps. A lot. Having friends here already that can help guide me through all this.

If you might have heard, sometimes there's areas or circumstances that might suppress your magic and abilities. Just getting ahead of that one as soon as possible.

That can happen?

[Keyleth can't be sure, probably, which missions that might be a factor for. But the very idea is unnerving. She hates how vulnerable and helpless the idea makes her feel, to be without her magic. It's as natural to her as breathing, some of the spells she knows. Sure, some abilities were more recently acquired, but still.]

Yeah, and not even when you'd expect. Right after I showed up here I ended up in some giant pit of balls... plastic, is the name of what they're made of. Couldn't do anything to get out except solve the secret trick.

[And people wonder why she's so cynical and grouchy about her time here!]

Eh? Plastic balls? I'm.....not quite sure I follow? Why? What trick?

[Keyleth is so confused. Was it some sort of trap or something? Was that it?]

Answering questions on the balls, then searching for where to put them that'd open up the door. One of those absolutely infuriating 'morality' traps where the creator wanted to teach a lesson to whoever got stuck in it, if you know the sort.

Oh. One of those puzzle things. Yeah, sometimes we find those among the traps in dungeons and stuff back home. I mean. Not exactly like that. But, I think I sort of get it.

Then there was the fog they released on us as an experiment. There's no real predicting it, it just seems to happen whenever someone wants it to.

A fog? Do I want to know what happened with that?

[Just... give her a moment, because this is infuriating.]

"We're opening a vent," is the message we got one day, "and it will release a fog into the dome. Your job is to find and close the vent." I'll give them credit, I suppose, for admitting it was one big test just to see what would happen.

What? They just....wanted to see what would happen? What sort of fog?

[Keyleth has far too much experience with darker magic and the likes to not be a little suspicious. Even if she might want to believe the best in situations. That it might not have been intentional. That they might not have known what impact the fog might have on them?]

Of course. They're testing and evaluating us here, after all. They've at least made no secret of that, which is better than I'd expect in this sort of situation. So it was a test to see how we'd handle it, and I'm not even sure we could have 'won' in the sense of finding and closing the vent. So it was just... the usual mess-with-your-head nonsense.

[Really, nothing new to someone who's seen the planes.]

I guess, that's true. Figuring if we're worthy, right? That our world can be saved. Should be saved. Spared. I want to do what I can, for everyone back home. I guess I'm just....less confident I can do it. I'm used to this sort of thing with my friends. Not all of them are here. But. At least, I have Percy and Vax.

You're overthinking things. We don't know the criteria they're judging us on. There's no obvious foe to face or challenge to overcome. So worrying about whether or not you can do it is irrelevant. It's already been decided. All you can do is the best you can, so if they still decide against you, you know the criteria they were judging you on were cruel and callous at best.

Maybe I am. I do tend to worry a lot. But you're right. All we can do is our best. And see what happens from there, I guess.
