[Daniil posts live from a café near the museum. He has no patience for typing responses, and his own visage should explain why. His nose has recently been broken and reset. He looks exhausted and irritated, but he has a duty.]

I need a couple people to come down to the café near that absurd museum with the sewn up fruit exhibits. Bring a stretcher, we have a patient who could use some more urgent treatment.

[From somewhere offscreen, a voice that is distinctly not Daniil’s states:] This Etrayan shot me in an attempt to get information I did not possess. I would appreciate his removal from my presence.

Now- That’s not true at all. That is not the reason you were stopped. [Daniil now regrets making a video, but what’s done is done. ]

I specifically shot one of the people endangering us all. Through the foot.

I have medical supplies. But more wouldn’t go amiss, I suppose. I’ll teach you to administer morphine if Castor consents, even though he’s not even screaming.

[wannasmash]

[ Where. Where does he begin. Morphine, isn't there a more modern less addictive alternative?? ]

You were just getting information from him? You don't shoot someone in custody! If I'm coming over there to assist, you can't be treating him. Not because you can't, but it would do psychological damage.

Please find something better than morphine or send me a list so I can get it myself.

[ He's mad and disappointed! ]

He’s only in custody because I shot him. What did you want from me, to tackle him? He’s twice my size.

What psychology? He’s not even a real man. [Jayce has done some unintentional damage to Daniil’s view of robots and by extension, A.I. minds.]

[Daniil scoffs] What do you mean better than morphine?

[wannasmash]

That's not a nice way to talk about someone. And he's a patient now.

[ Does he have to tell the doctor to show a patient respect? ]

I mean more modern! Do we really only have drugs from the 1800s? I guess if it's one-time it should be okay.

[ It's used modernly, but man! ]

Listen, Midoriya. You’re a good kid and I genuinely like you, so let me let you in on a little secret about the world of adults. Nice doesn’t always get results. Results are terribly necessary in these horrible moments we find ourselves in.

[Yes. 100% he does have to say that.]

I’m not always nice, but it is for everyone’s good. Do you understand?

[Daniil frowns.] Morphine might be from the 1800s, but it’s a perfectly viable and effective drug even in your time. Our time. I’m here now too.

[wannasmash]

[ A sure sign that Midoriya habitually speaks to people in a higher register is that his voice dips nearly an octave now. ]

The people whose lives I've saved would tell you otherwise.

[ Isn't he tired of being nice? No! He's tired of everyone being mean! ]

I'm not about to let us become like the very people we're fighting against or it's all pointless.

[thantagonist]

The people whose lives I’ve saved don’t even know it. They take it for granted. Why waste my breath?

[Daniil heaves such a sigh.]

We aren’t like them regardless. Manners are ideal in polite interactions, but they aren’t all that separate us from the villains. I would argue that would be the indiscriminate slaughter of precious human life. [Get a grip, kid!]

[wannasmash]

It's not a waste to make the world better. We don't help people just so they can thank us.

[ Boy is he glad Daniil will probably never meet the Hero killer Stain. He's an extreme fundamentalist who went around killing Heroes just for expecting accolades for saving people. ]

Next time you want to detain someone, you can call any of us. We know how to do it without shooting someone in the foot.

The thanks is nice, I admit. But I do it for the principle of the thing.

It’s easy to be a critic. Who knows what would have happened had I let him go free? There was no time to call anyone. [Now Daniil’s just being an asshole. There would have been time to call Superman, for instance. He was just angry.] Were everyone else more proactive, I would not have deemed it necessary.

[He honestly got the information before shooting Castor, so he’s blowing smoke. The only legitimate part of this is:] Focus your attention on getting every last thing Castor knows out of him now, rather than berating me, hm? I’m tired enough as it is.

You may not know this, but there are at least two of us who can break the sound barrier. We're very fast. That's why I always say you can call me if you need help.

[ Possibly three, to his knowledge. ]

I am coming over to check on Castor, I know.

[ Midoriya never tells an adult "I know" like a surly teenager. Daniil is in the doghouse for this one. ]

He'd probably be more open to talking if he weren't shot in the foot.

[“I know” isn’t even that bad in Daniil’s book. He doesn’t even notice it.]

Just try him out. He wasn’t eager to talk before either. Everyone softens up one pain medication, though. [Not strictly ethical, no. He’s not getting any awards from ethics committees, for damn sure.]

[ Midoriya makes a mental note that maybe he shouldn't allow Dr. Dankovsky to give him pain medication at any future appointments. ]

What went wrong? Didn't he tell you anything?

A little bit. Not enough to avoid needless death while we waste our time filling in the blanks. Yet.

[wannasmash]

Investigations take time. You can't just take a gun to them.

[ He sounds very tired then. He can't maintain anger for long unless he's in an actual physical fight with someone. It's not in his nature. ]

I can't promise anything.

We also have no authority here either. We have to make our own.
