[Daniil posts live from a café near the museum. He has no patience for typing responses, and his own visage should explain why. His nose has recently been broken and reset. He looks exhausted and irritated, but he has a duty.]

I need a couple people to come down to the café near that absurd museum with the sewn up fruit exhibits. Bring a stretcher, we have a patient who could use some more urgent treatment.

[From somewhere offscreen, a voice that is distinctly not Daniil’s states:] This Etrayan shot me in an attempt to get information I did not possess. I would appreciate his removal from my presence.

Now- That’s not true at all. That is not the reason you were stopped. [Daniil now regrets making a video, but what’s done is done. ]

I did this for everyone, girl. I did this for the people trapped in the tower, for the affront to human dignity that the walking corpses of our loved ones present, for the Polluxians slowly starving to death in bunkers. I even did this for you, girl.

Someone has to make hard, unpleasant, unpopular choices around here. It may as well be me. I’m used to it. And I would do it again to spare every single innocent person the needless bloodshed. That was your mistake. He can’t be reasoned with. So it’s a pint of Castor’s blood for hundreds of gallons of ours. It’s an easy choice.

You can't convince me you did this for anyone else. A-All you've talked about is yourself. E-Even now, all you care about is being right a-and the one to have fixed the problem. You don't care about me or anyone trying to survive o-or the people who've died.

So I’ve got pride? A little bit of an ego? So shoot me.

It’s nice to meet you, Grace. Let me introduce myself properly in kind. My name is Doctor Daniil Dankovsky. I care very much about each and every human life. This is the standard that any doctor should have for himself.

[His voice is as it always is. Soft, tired.]

Unfortunately, I've met a doctor where that wasn't the case, Dr. Dankovsky. [And sure, he may not be as bad as Dr. Gideon. Grace can grant him that much, there is still a single-minded approach both men (could Dr. Gideon even be called that) take.] Wh-what you say doesn't match with w-what you've done. Or h-how you're trying to rationalize it i-i-into some screwed up sense of righteousness.

Why has everyone met a sadistic doctor…? [Daniil doesn’t know that he keeps bumping into Raccoon City’s healthcare providers.]

I take no joy in shooting anyone, Ms. Ashcroft. Even someone looking to take my own life. But Castor will be fine. He might even actually survive this entire ordeal in our care, which is much more than any of us could say otherwise. It was a matter of days before the living dead tore him apart. He was unwilling to cooperate, and unfortunately I found myself invoking the sort of emergency powers that have been vested in me before. Had I the strength or ability, I would have simply put him in handcuffs. Alas, I am more brain than brawn, so I had to make do.

He has spent enough time in selfish obstinance. I decided that today it would be over. Someone had to do something. I understand my methods can be unsavory. Thankfully my goal is more clear-minded than merely offering the veneer of acceptability.
