I suppose someone who refers to the rest of us as 'the masses' would want to live like an emperor. I never saw the appeal.

I could be trying my hand at being facetious. Anyone who tries to crush others underfoot deserves what comes to them.

It's difficult to tell if someone is being facetious upon their first missive.

I would agree to an extent. Personally, I think being an emperor would be terribly boring. The first thing to be done would obviously be abdication. Gold threaded clothes are a poor trade for one's ability to enjoy life.

Mm it depends on your company. If you are ruling side by side with your soulmate, it might not be so bad.

Intellectually, yes. Socially, no. They're usually traps rather than challenges.

I disagree. My parents are actually fond of one another and they barely have any time with each other. And they are less busy than they would be if either of them were the emperor. The logistics of maintaining power and administering territory and empire take time away from one's lover. It would also be quite annoying to deal with people trying to kill said lover in order to take their place.

I would prefer to have a position where my loved one was safe. Or at least where if they were in danger it was consciously chosen and due to something that would bring them joy.

The traps are the challenges! How do you evade them? How do you use the trap against your opponent? Believe me, it is possible. I managed it only recently.

Because you think your determination overrides the greater machinations of the world. I assure you, there are many devoted and determined lovers dead on the ground at the end of every battle.The love and determination does not determine if they live. Dying soldiers on all sides call for their loves and mothers, and they die all the same.
